20 Minutes is a drama-action Turkish television series produced by Ay Yapım, directed by Ali Bilgin and written by Pınar Bulut and Kerem Deren. The series, which is about the life of Ali and Melek Halaskar couple, who have a happy marriage, turned upside down when Melek was accused of murder and imprisoned one night, was broadcast on Star TV in 2013.
The series starring famous names such as Tuba Büyüküstün, İlker Aksum and Fırat Çelik had a very impressive story. The series, which has only 25 episodes broadcasted on the screen, attracted greater attention abroad. The 20 Minute series was sold to more than 30 countries and gained great success.

OVERALL IMPRESSION:
The 20 Minutes series was conceived as a series version of The Next Three Days (The Escape Plan), a US-France co-production film starring Russell Crowe, Elizabeth Banks and Olivie Wilde. Serdar Işık sat in the director’s chair during the first five episodes. However, after Kerem Deren stated that Işık could not display the script on the screen as desired, Ali Bilgin was appointed as the director.
The 20 Minutes series, which was nominated for many awards including the Antalya Television Awards during its broadcasting period, received the ‘Series of the Year’ award at the award ceremony of the Black Sea Education, Culture and Environmental Protection Foundation (KARVAK) in 2013, while Tuba Büyüküstün also received the ‘Best of the Year’ award at the same ceremony. She won the ‘Best Actress’ award.
STORY:
One night the door of the Halaskar family was knocked. The police went in and arrested and handcuffed Ali Halaskar’s wife, Melek Halaskar, for the attempted murder. Ali could not do anything. Yet Melek would do everything. She would get up early in the morning to cook, take care of everything Ali forgot during the day, take care of three children, including Ali, at home, take all the burden of their happy family on her shoulders, and life would tire her sometimes more than anyone else. She could do anything but killing someone? Ali never believed it. Everything happened very quickly. Melek Halaskar was found guilty and sentenced in one session. 20 years in prison.
Did Melek really commit this crime? Kerim Solmaz, who is expected to wake up from the coma, will give the answer. Of course, if he wakes up. Everything had happened very quickly, but it was actually starting now. History teacher Ali Halaskar, who had not been able to deposit a bill on time until today, set out to prove his wife’s innocence. It was not in Ali’s nature to travel such a road. But he couldn’t live without Melek. He did not yet know that there was nothing he could not do to return his beloved wife home with an unimaginable love and to reunite his happy family. Until he met a power he did not know existed in himself.
This power will put Ali in the middle of a struggle that exceeds his height. Compulsorily. Because now his purpose in life is neither to be an informative history teacher nor to be a vice principal. Now, his only goal is to get Melek out of that prison, and Ali will go a long way for this cause. And this road will throw obstacles that he cannot ignore. For example, Necmettin President. Tuba Büyüküstün (Merve Aslandoğ / Melek Halaskar) Ali’s only love, mother of two children and the pillar of the house. Ushan Çakır (Özgür Erköse) works in Melek’s Kitchen. He has a secret that he hides from everyone. It is learned later that he is gay.
Defne Kayalar (Derin Solmaz) is the wife of Kerim Solmaz. She lives with Tayfur. Kerimi is jealous of Melek.
Murat Prosçiler (Kerim Solmaz) The psychopathic son of the president, Melek’s fearful dream. He is perverted and is the person who caused the death of Melek’s brother. In the 25th episode, he was deceived by Melek, drinks poisonous medicine and dies by poisoning.

Gökçe Aytaç Özyol (“Mouse” Serpil Ergünoğlu) is one of the prisoners in the prison where Melek is staying. It brings goods from inside and outside. She’s a snitch.
