When the series Aşk-ı Memnu, which is one of the best of all time among Turkish TV series, was broadcast, it was shaken from the ground. While the series, adapted from Reşat Nuri Güntekin’s novel of the same name and starring Beren Saat and Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ, is still remembered, a new series is coming from the director of Aşk-ı Memnu. This series will be an adaptation of a classic work.
According to journalist Birsen Altuntaş in his column, the new series will be a modern adaptation of Namık Kemal’s work İntibah. The director of the series will be Hilal Saral, who has produced popular TV series such as Ask-i Memnu, Saying Elveda, Fatmagul’s Crime Ne, Kuzey Güney, and Kara Sevda.
BKM undertakes the production of the series. According to the news of Altuntaş, preparations for the new series İntibah are continuing at full speed. The script of the series, which is planned to be shot in September, is written by Melek Gençoğlu, the screenwriter of Aşk-ı Memnu, and Su Ersöz. Melek Gençoğlu has produced many successful productions such as Kuzey Güney, This City Will Come After You, Kurt Seyit and Şura, Med Cezir, Fatmagül’s Crime.
The series is planned to be screened on Kanal D. According to the news, İntibah will not be a period drama, it will take place today. There is no word yet on the cast of the series. It is stated that actor negotiations are continuing.
The story of İntibah is as follows:
Ali is the only son of a wealthy family, a smart, hardworking and handsome young man at the age of twenty-one. His father gave great importance to his son’s education. The father loves his son and the son loves his father very much. But after losing his father, big changes take place in Ali’s life.
Ali falls in love with Mahpeyker, who is actually a prostitute. After his family rejects Mahpeyker, Ali agrees to marry Dilaşub, the concubine in his house. However, Mahpeyker learns about this and swears to take revenge on Ali.
