GENERAL IMPRESSION:

Elveda Rumeli is a series that tells a dramatic story set in 1896-1898 and 1907. The cast and technical team of the series included people from Turkey and Macedonia. In the 3rd season of the series, the actors who played some important characters left the series, Sayışman, one of the leading actors of the series, which is among the best period series, said in a program he attended, “It was very good days. How quickly it passed, when I look back, it seemed like yesterday. I spent 2.5 years in Macedonia. They were great days. Our job was very enjoyable. I have always been very happy to be in that job. I’ve always said it proudly.’

STORY:

The year is 1896, the Balkans. We are watching the events that develop around Ramiz and his family.

General Story Year 1896. The Ottoman Empire is slowly losing its dominance in the Balkans. Our hero, Sütçü Ramiz, is a poor Turkish villager who lives with his three daughters of marriageable age and his wife in a village close to the city of Manastır in the Macedonian region. The events that developed around Ramiz and his family aim to hold a mirror to those years of the world empire, which was withdrawing from the Balkans in the background.

The shooting of the series Elveda Rumeli was mostly done in Bitola, Macedonia. The place where Sütçü Ramiz’s house is located is the village of Makova, also known as Pürsıçan. In the city center of Bitola, Manastır Military High School, where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was educated, was featured in the series as the place where the problems of the Balkans of the period were discussed. The city square where Sütçü Ramiz sells his milk, where Terzi Hasan (Ertan Saban) and Butcher Cabbar (Gökhan Mete) work, where everyone can find what they are looking for, is located in the city center of Bitola.
