There may be a great discussion environment after the earthquake for the series where violence and death are not lacking due to the war scenes broadcast on the television screen. Kuruluş Osman (Establishment Osman) broadcast on ATV, Alparslan and Al Sancak series on TRT1, and Fox TV’s new series Dokuz Oğuz may be the productions that will receive the most criticism at this point.
Turkey is experiencing one of the biggest earthquake disasters in history. On Monday, February 6, two earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.7 and a magnitude of 7.6 occurred 9 hours later, and millions of people were faced with a great drama.
Those who died, those who were injured, those who survived the earthquake but suffered due to many shortcomings along with their pain… A superhuman effort is being made to bring our people out of the rubble alive. Aid to the earthquake area is pouring in from all over the country. Support comes from many countries around the world.
Along with this cooperation effort, social sensitivity and awareness are also increasing. Here, in an environment where such a severe earthquake disaster is experienced, the possibility of causing deep wounds in human psychology should be taken into account, as well as the possibility that the TV series, which are broadcast on television channels and usually contain violence, can cause deep wounds.
The Alparslan Great Seljuk and Kuruluş Osman TV series tells a story of important periods in history. Both series, prepared for important moments in our history, have millions of viewers and are impressive projects.
Likewise, Al Sancak and Dokuz Oğuz TV series broadcast on Fox TV, which started on the TRT1 screen recently, stand out as military productions. In these two TV series, the homeland struggle of our heroic soldiers is exhibited.
This great earthquake disaster, which took place in 10 cities and directly affected nearly 14 million people, deeply affected the people of the whole country. Not only those who experienced the earthquake, but also those who have relatives or friends in that region, millions of people were directly affected by this disaster, even if they did not know it.
In such an environment, human and social psychology must also be taken into account for the broadcast of TV series such as Alparslan, Kuruluş Osman, Al Sancak and Dokuz Oğuz.
It may not be a good idea to broadcast every violent and deathly project that is reflected on the television screen after such a deep national pain as the earthquake disaster.
It is not known how television channels decide for such violent serials, or whether RTÜK takes any steps on these issues. But we should not lose sight of the fact that this great pain experienced by the whole country will have very different reflections.
