It was March 8, International Women’s Day, and Başak Gümülcinelioğlu, who played the character of Judge Neva in the TV series “Yargı”, shared her thoughts from her own perspective.
The actress, who shined in the TV series Sen Çal Kapımı and gave a very good performance in Yargı, said that in 2022 she was still uncomfortable with the talk of women’s place in social life.
Başak Gümülcinelioğlu made the following statement: “I am actually offended that we feel compelled to draw attention to this issue. A person is human, regardless of gender, she has an equal place in society, she has an equal say, and I think that what needs to be done in this context should have been done already.”
The actress especially emphasized that thanks to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Turkish Republic, Turkish women gained the right to vote and be elected before many other countries.
Pointing out that the enlightenment process should continue rapidly, the actress said: “I believe that we should remember this enlightenment process that started with the Turkish women gaining the right to vote and be elected in 1934, thanks to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, before many other countries, and I believe that we should take all the steps we took in this light. I hope brighter, more hopeful tomorrows are ours…”
