The success of Turkish TV series abroad is known. Every day, the cross-border success of a Turkish series comes to the fore. The last news came from the TV series Bizim Hikaye, which was broadcast two years ago.
Adapted from the US-made TV series Shameless, Bizim Hikaye (Our Story) was shot by Med Production for Fox TV. Hazal Kaya and Burak Deniz, who shared the lead roles in the series, became a very good duo, and the series was also successful.
The story of Filiz, who was abandoned by her mother and had to take care of her five siblings and alcoholic father, while also making a living at home, was loved by Turkish audiences at the time it was broadcast.
Bizim Hikaye series, which was broadcast for two seasons and 70 episodes, said goodbye to the screens in May 2019. It has been more than two years since Bizim Hikaye made its finale, but the echoes of the series continue abroad.
The Urdu episodes of Bizim Hikaye, which has been broadcast in many countries to date, have been watched by almost 18 million people and broke a record. Urdu language is spoken in India.
Although there are many elements contrary to Turkish culture in the original Shameless, Bizim Hikaye’s screenwriters, Hatice Meryem, Banu Kiremitçi Bozkurt, Ebru Hacıoğlu, Verda Pars, was adapted very well and was successful.
The series was such a success that it attracted even more attention than the original and the American version. The producer of the series, Fatih Aksoy, summed up this success with these words: “The series watched in Turkey are watched all over the world. Our series are broadcast on free channels around the world. We have TV shows watched by 500 million unique people. No American TV series can reach this figure.”
