GENERAL IMPRESSION:
The series Gönülçelen left its mark on the years it was broadcast and took its place among the unforgettable series. The drama and love-themed series also contained comedy elements. Tuba Büyüküstün, who appeared in front of the audience with the character of “Hasret” in the series, took lessons for her role. Tuba Büyüküstün, who took Roman dialect, Romani dance lessons and singing lessons, also visited the regions where Romans live. Cansel Elçin, on the other hand, took piano lessons for the character of “Murat”, in which he played a rich and very famous music man from Istanbul, who graduated from the Music Academy. “Gönülçelen”, which tells the story of Istanbul on one side, also revealed the bitter and sweet scenery of the city with the most delicious examples of the music spectrum.
STORY:
In Gönülçelen, a young girl Hasret (Tuba Büyüküstün), who lives in one of the poorest districts of Istanbul, belongs to the lower class and is distinguished by her ‘Roman’ dialect and ‘free spirit’ belonging to that stratum, and Murat, a rich academic who has a career in music. (Cansel Elçin) is the subject of the dreams that brought them together.
The young but bright academician, who spent many years abroad and prepared theses on Turkey, returns to Turkey. He makes a bet that will change his life on the beautiful gypsy girl he sees in one of the slums he visits with his friend: ‘Will this be a lady from the suburban belle or not?’. While the academician is trying to create a lady from a gypsy, he will face the realities of the “Other Turkey”, while the girl turns into a bright star, Murat will see that he is slowly falling in love with Hasret and how this claim will come true.

VENUE:
The shooting of the TV series Gönülçelen was done in Istanbul. The scenes of Hasret’s neighborhood were shot in Istanbul’s Balat district. In the district, which hosts many more TV series, the residents of the district acted as extras for free. The scenes in Murat’s house were shot in Istanbul Göztepe. Trying to create a natural gypsy neighborhood as Plato, the production team also made a meticulous work on the costumes.
GENERIC:
