Why did the adaptation of the BAFTA award-winning series Son Nefesime Kadar (meaning: Until My Last Breath) fall into this situation? Here is the answer to this question. Although the third episode of the TV series “Son Nefesim Kadar” was published, the final decision taken by Fox TV did not have much repercussions. It was an unappreciated project.
The BBC’s Happy Valley, which won the BAFTA award, was very successful. Nurgül Yeşilçay admired the female character she portrayed in the adaptation so much that she was very happy to be the lead role in the domestic adaptation of the series she watched years ago. The story, however, did not engulf the audience. The series will complete its screen life by making the final with its fifth episode.
So why did it come to this point? This point of the series, produced by Pasten Film, is being questioned. One of the Milliyet Blog writers, Anibal Güleroğlu, was one of those who asked this question. The problem is actually a lack of adaptation. Anibal Güleroğlu expressed this shortcoming with the following words:
“At this point, the most important detail that caused the series to fail is the lack of atmospheric taste and story energy in the adaptation!”
What is not felt in the original series called Happy Valley, Son Nefesime Kadar is the sense of reality. Anibal Güleroğlu put forward the difference of the original series by saying, “It makes a difference with its content that has a high sense of reality and intense violence, and connects the audience to itself from here.”
However, it is not possible to broadcast such a harsh element of violence on a mainstream television channel in the TV series Son Nefesime Kadar. This situation reveals the necessity of softening the events.
Anibal Güleroğlu states that while the screenwriters softened the crime scenes, they tried to close it by highlighting their family problems, but it didn’t work.
The author, who says, “The taste of the original, which feeds on violence, has lost its taste,” thinks that this is due to the fact that the TV series Son Nefesime Kadar is too far from the original about violence and crime.”
