Together with Burak Deniz, the Netflix series called Şahmaran, starring Serenay Sarıkaya and Mert Ramazan Demir, was released.
Şahmaran is a legend that influenced many cultures. Serenay Sarıkaya said that they revealed this legend by adapting it to the present.
The actress, who played the character of Şahsu in the series, stated that they created a story by preserving the important points of the philosophy.
Talking about the series about the events that happened to an academic woman who came to a town one day, Serenay Sarıkaya said, “Şahsu is confronted with the fact that she is a very important figure and that she has some responsibilities. These responsibilities take her to a place where she cannot connect madness to reality. Will she decide to fulfill this prophecy or not? What will happen to her? We’re going to watch that in the first season,” she said.
Explaining that Şahsu, who is a self-confident character in her late 20s, has just passed away and abandoned by her father and grandfather, Sarıkaya also mentioned that she is someone who has not lived in love for a long time.
As a woman who can stand on her own two feet and earn her own money, Şahsu is a hardened woman to protect herself against the outside.
After accepting the Şahmaran project, an incident that happened to the famous actress was also revealed for the first time.
The actress described her experiences a few days after she was offered the role:
“My friend Seda rented a house in Göcek. I went to hang out there with Seda. When she got home, she said to me, “I’ll do the shopping while you stay.” I’m digging through drawers to make coffee, trying to find something. I opened a drawer, a big note. I was losing my mind. I closed the drawer as if my hand had touched the fire. I feel like I’ve been caught, what does that mean? It was written on the note: ‘Tell Şahmaran that we will not harm her, and she will not come to us.’ It has been a few days since she accepted the job.”
Seda came home. “I hid it to show you something,” she said, pointing to a snakeskin over the refrigerator. She had just taken it out, she had just taken off her whole shell. I said what’s going on. I got the message that I guess we should do whatever we’re doing. That’s okay. Such strange things have happened.
The note was written by the person who previously lived there as a tenant. According to an old belief, such notes were sometimes written in houses in nature, so that snakes would not enter the house, protect us and not frighten us. It was very interesting to me.”
