The Arka Sokaklar (Back Streets) series, which met with the audience on Friday evenings on Kanal D and became a classic, has not been on the screen for a long time with its new episodes. At first, it was announced that the series was interrupted due to the illness of producer Türker İnanoğlu, but then the interruption never ended, which disappointed those who were waiting for the series.
Then came the harsh statements of the master actor Zafer Ergin, whom we watched as Rıza Soylu in the story. Although there are claims that Arka Sokaklar will be remade with new names, it was surprising that a project was brought to this point while its 17th season was continuing. The state of uncertainty, which is also disrespectful to the audience of the series, is not acceptable for such an influential series that has brought a lot of money to Kanal D and producer Erler Film for years to disappear in this way.
The veteran actor Zafer Ergin has shown great loyalty by saying that he can play for years more if necessary. Many actors, like Zafer Ergin, endured all kinds of difficulties for the series for years and mostly rejected offers from other projects. The disappearance of the Arka Sokaklar series, where such sacrifices are made, seems to be a great shame.
Is the reason for this situation Erler Film or Kanal D? Aside from where it actually originated, wouldn’t it be more realistic to end such a legendary series with a beautiful finale and not create a bad situation in the minds of the audience?
Zafer Ergin says: “This is the first time in my life that something like this has happened to me. It ended in a smash, without making a final.”
The weight of these words is great because the criticism of the 80-year-old master actor, who served the story for 17 years, drew attention.
Zafer Ergin, in his statement, said: “We were saddened and surprised by the sudden ending of the series. I wish Türker İnanoğlu had not been ill, we would have continued. After all, the producer probably saw some things in his own way, so he didn’t continue. This is the first time in my life something like this has happened to me. It ended in a smash, without making a final.”
Noting that they received messages from the audience, Zafer Ergin said, “As actors, we have respect for people and the audience. They should have told us, ‘Sorry, it’s over for this’. It is shameful. The finale has a different mood. Friends say, “Let’s shoot the final episode without getting paid,” he said.
