They made a big mistake in Fox’s disgraced Elkızı series!

The Elkızı series, which was broadcast on Saturday evenings, became one of the productions that had problems on the Fox TV screen. The first 4 episodes of the series starring Sevda Erginci, İsmail Ege Şaşmaz and Perihan Savaş have been published. But the ratings are not good…

On Monday evenings, when the TV series Gönül Dağı and Kardeşlerim gained high rates, the Elkızı series was also expected to come to the fore. The fact that the series was based on the famous writer Orhan Kemal’s novels of the same name and that it was a drama-based production raised hopes.

However, Elkızı series received various criticisms with its story and did not receive the high interest expected from the audience. Although the series had a considerable audience, the cessation of the rise and the decrease in the 4th episode ratings below the average revealed a negative picture.

So what’s wrong with the directory? Why did Elkızı fall short of expectations? Anibal Güleroğlu, one of the Milliyet bloggers, touched on these issues in his review. The problems experienced in the story setup of the series actually cause the audience’s interest to be low.

In his article, Anibal Güleroğlu made the following evaluations about this situation:

” Making Orhan Kemal’s novel a roadmap for itself; Therefore, ‘Elkızı’ was a production that put me in positive expectation as well… Unfortunately, from the moment it started, it drew a lightning bolt and presented a disappointing picture. The return of the flaws in the logic of content and editing has already shown itself in the ratings.

In this context, our primary statement will be that the series has a very different content logic than Orhan Kemal’s novel “Elkızı”, which manages to touch the souls with the sadness it creates by addressing the world of men and women from all aspects and revealing the stalemate of intimidated women in family life and society.

Namely; The “Elkızı” series, which is not closely related to the one-to-one adaptation, focuses on a story that is lived today instead of the atmosphere of the 1950s, when the novel takes place. This preference may seem right in the abundance of period series at first. However, it is also a fact that developing the content in this way makes the main theme of the woman crushed in the male-dominated order stereotypical. Because Ezo, who is tried to be identified with the ‘Cinderella’ symbol, does not comply with the logic of the ‘female emphasis’ in the original work, neither with his rebellious personality nor with his contradictory attitudes.”
