Family: Born and raised in Izmir, her childhood was intertwined with art thanks to her mother. “My mother was a woman who loved art. She made me take ballet training in Izmir from the age of three. I owe my spiritual development to my mother. All artists who came to Izmir Fair would be guests at our house. Nisa Serezli, Tolga Aşkıner, Ali Poyrazoğlu, Ferdi Özbeğin, Korhan Abay, Coşkun Sabah… In other words, the biggest stars of the period were always in our house. For this reason, it is not surprising to me to meet a celebrity, I took this for granted at a very young age. Even now, all the celebrities in Turkey seem to be my friends, my friends. I only get excited when I meet people I respect. For example; Türkan Şoray, Hülya Koçyiğit, Filiz Akın and Selda Alkor… These names are at a very different point for me professionally, they are respectable people.”
Childhood years: She was a very introverted, calm and different child who could not do anything alone. She went to Aynur Ressamoğlu Ballet Studio in İzmir for 10 years from the age of three. She wanted to be a ballerina when she was little. At the age of 6, she was recruited as a dancer in the musical ‘Boy Friend’ at the Izmir State Theatre. “When I look back on my childhood, I see that I have come a long way. I’ve officially changed continents. My mother takes my hand and takes me to the private ballet studio when I was 3 years old. To Aynur Ressamoğlu. I am from İzmir, I have been studying ballet in Karşıyaka and ballet for about 12 years. At this point, it is very valuable for young children to perform folklore, ballet and play instruments in order to provide a sense of rhythm and coordination, and to keep their brain and body development together. If families discover these points of children, they should definitely encourage them. These features are in very good places in their lives in the future.”
In fact, I also loved to dance. But I liked modern dance rather than classical ballet. It was such an opportunity. A dancer cadre was opened at Izmir State Theatre. I was the only person from outside. All of them were dancers of the State Opera and Ballet. I was the only one who passed the exam. I acted in the ‘Boy Friend Musical’, I was in the dancer staff. But I saw that at that age, my little one, I’m 16 years old. I said, ‘Oh, but the leading actor gets the most applause, the dancers don’t get applause here.’ With that impulse, I wonder if I could be an actress for a minute? Shall I be a actress? I said I want to act the lead. In fact, Hülya Savaş was acting the leading role at that time and was the director of the State Theaters for a while. Then we worked on a TV series for a while. I admired her too. After that, I wanted to study theater. My mother found a teacher, I received training. An area was opened for the trainees at the Izmir State Theatre. They took us for the exam, first we became trainees. Then I won, I acted in the children’s game. Then I took the Hacettepe exams and passed the exam. Then I became an actress.”
Education life: Graduated from İzmir Karşıyaka High School. Then she graduated from Ankara Hacettepe University State Conservatory Theater Department.
The turning point of her life: While she was doing ballet, she realized that ballet was not enough for her and she wanted to develop her theatrical side as well. She wanted to be a musical dancer, she. “Çiğdem Tunç, Burçin Orhon and Yonca Evcimik were very influential in this. But I admired Ayten Gökçer the most. After watching ‘7 Kocalı Hürmüz’, I said, ‘I have to be Ayten Gökçer!’ Then I won the Hacettepe University State Conservatory. Nobody knows, but you are tried in your first year of the conservatory. We’ve been tried, failed, and thrown out. This is my first time to tell. Engin Günaydın, Timuçin Esen and Evrim Solmaz were cast with me. İnci Türkay and Erdal Beşikçioğlu were found successful and moved to the next class. But I have learned very good lessons from everything I have experienced. It further developed my personality. I have never seen the harm in being brave, it is necessary to take risks. When I was expelled from school, I won the Department of Theater at the Faculty of Language, History and Geography a year later. But that year, an amnesty was issued saying, “Expelled students can return.” I also took the amnesty exam of Hacettepe, I was very comfortable, I already had a school. Names such as Çetin Tekindor and Lemi Bilgin were on the exam board, and I passed the exam there. Then I said, ‘Why should I lose a year?’ and I went back to my own school.”
The turning point of her career: She sees the TV series “Asmalı Konak” as the turning point of her career. “I owe my earning money and reading new scripts to Asmalı Konak. ‘Asmalı Konak’ was my 23rd serial and it was a reward given to me by life. After my role in “Düriye’nin Gümleri”, no one said Tigris anymore, everyone said Düriye. It is beautiful when one success follows another success. ‘Europe Europe’ is my first sit-com series. While one look is enough in the drama, the joke written by the scriptwriter to you in the sit-com is effective. That’s why in sit-com screenwriters enlarge the characters. Even if you’re a great actor/actress, you can’t do anything if a good joke isn’t written to you. In other words, a new education-teaching process began for me there.”
The first step into acting: She started her television adventure in 1988 with the TV series “Evlenme Cüzdanı”.
Which project did it shine with? She attracted attention with the character of “Dicle” she acted in the TV series “Asmalı Konak”.
Mindset: It has undergone a renewal in recent years. She thinks that as she gets older, she sees that life is plain and simple. “I experienced regeneration like a Phoenix. I am happy, at peace. I found a space to bring my artistry and acting together with my own soul. A person proceeds with her experiences and experiences. Over the years, you see how simple, plain and simple life should be. However, this is reflected in the person’s outward appearance. Instead of increasing the outer riches, one should increase their inner wealth. Anyone who has money can equip their outer appearance with brand clothes, but only with the values and human virtues you believe in. It’s the only place where money doesn’t go. It is acceptable for me to be friends with people who offer you treasure with their inner wealth, not those who have money. Here, what I mean by the word owner of money is a group that despises and humiliates people with both their money and power of office. Otherwise, there are many people around us who are both wealthy and have achieved their inner wealth. I am one of those who believe in the equality of everyone, the necessity of benefiting from human rights and freedoms, and the absolute protection of the sense of justice and conscience under all conditions and circumstances. Having tolerance and understanding protects you from many bad thoughts and also eliminates the traps on your way. Goodness and beauty do not harm anyone, as long as there is a pure and good intention in one’s heart…
Source of happiness: She is happy with the attention of her fans. “If people start calling you with the character you act on the road, it is no longer ‘Silk’, it has become that character. I don’t know, if they shout ‘Dicle’ or ‘Dürüye sister’, this is a really important measure for the actors. Some actors enter the complex. My name is this, this is why they call me by the name of the character. On the contrary, it is necessary to think. Because you are actually in a completely different creation there, you have to make people love the character you act. If you ask me, this is what real acting is. I like being called by the character I act. I don’t hear any complex from it. There was the character of ‘Hatice’ in the movie ‘She’s Children’ which I loved very much. We shot a movie called ‘Ankara Summer-Farewell Letter’. I loved acting Zeynep, mother of Mustafa Pehlivanoğlu. Of course, we keep movies far from serials. For example, I acted a character in ‘Love and Blue’. We shot it in Cappadocia. Even though I act that character, I am the Tigris of Cappadocia, it does not change. People have adopted the ‘Tigris’ a lot, they have internalized it a lot. It’s been many years. There is something interesting, for example, people watch old TV series and movies because they are at home. For example, the current generation knows and watches ‘Asmalı Konak’. Those who were not born at that time are now watching and sending me messages. She said, ‘It was a very good series, we loved Dicle’. Of course, I am enchanted, what a wonderful feeling.”
First feature film: Mesut Uçan / Ölümsüz Karanfiller
Her outlook on life: Now she takes care to live her life more closed and to be more selective. “I used to believe in everyone and have absolute trust. But now I am more cautious. I learned to say no without offending people. I learned a lot about seeing people without losing the sense of empathy, conscience and justice being the first items in our lives. I think I’ve grown. But most importantly, to be cautious is to set the limits of my own life. I divided the people around me into categories such as friend, colleague, colleague. Because you cannot approach everyone with the same love and the same sentences. I am a person who believes in the ‘destiny’ plan. Whatever life offers you, good or bad, you have to accept everything. We should rejoice in the good and learn from the pain. We must ask, “What does the Creator want to tell me?” We always want happiness and abundance. But we are in the world of testing. The bad ones will come too, so we have to be thankful for the good ones. I learned to live simply; I will be in good health, my family will be healthy, my sustenance will be open and peace will be enough for me. A lifestyle in neon lights seems distant to me now. But in order to get to this point, I can say, ‘I’ve been pretty rasped in this life’. In 2000, before ‘Asmalı Konak’ started, I had a panic attack. The sector was problematic, I could not find a job. I waited a long time for ‘even if my phone rings’. That’s when my inner journey began. I learned yoga, meditation, Far Eastern philosophy, progressed slowly and came to mysticism. Now I have put the end of mysticism, I want to continue on that path.”
Perspective on business life: “She prefers to lead a life away from magazines and only come to the fore with her job. When she decides with her emotions in business life, she sometimes thinks that she is doing wrong. “Why aren’t you on the tabloids? Why don’t you give more interviews?’ they ask. This is my own voluntary choice, a principle and a principle. So they don’t see me much anymore. I only do interviews at the point of work, when I do business. I have something to say lately; Now I say screenplay star. So there is no stardom in acting. Here’s to foreign sales, even if some names are more prominent because they are in demand from abroad, if the right story, the right scenario, the right director cannot be set up even about those people, if you pay attention, even their jobs go away. That’s why I say your lead script is now. It has to be a good story and screenplay. Sometimes I make mistakes when I make decisions with my emotions. When I decide with my emotions, I can sometimes make mistakes; God has given us all minds and ideas. You love a person, if you sign the contract without reading it just because that person is involved, it’s obvious what will happen. So I don’t blame anyone for this either. I always express my appreciation towards the actors I like and love, I will definitely say it, I will say it everywhere. The important thing is that you can evaluate without seeing yourself as a actress. That greed, that jealousy, I don’t like them in my own life. I try not to hold it as much as possible. Because they are poison to you. Poisons of your body, mind. Being jealous of someone, envying someone, thinking bad about someone, these are actually the damage you have done to yourself. That’s why I like to share love and success as much as possible. I love it very much and I like to praise the actors I like.”
What is she like on set? She cares about acting professionally on set. “I am being cautious. I look professional to everyone. I’m trying not to pollute my pool of hearts. You have to choose your friends well. I go to the set with respect, I never have star moods. I am doing my job like a worker. Of course, every era has its own difficulties. In fact, there is a definition of the spirit of time, everything changes according to the spirit of the time. It’s been my 33 years. Therefore, I am one of the rare actors who caught Yeşilçam. I had the opportunity to work with the masters in Yeşilçam. All the directors I have worked with have passed away. From Memduh Ün to Osman Seden, I worked with such valuable people as Orhan Elmas and Ayhan Önal that I actually learned the ‘A’ of this job. I also distributed tea on the set, set up the carriage, and cleaned the make-up materials. It was like the school you know for me. That morality, that decency, that respect in the master-apprentice relationship deeply permeated us. Our generation is like that. Therefore, we were ready even in front of the assistant director, let alone the director. Young people today are much luckier. Because they have a chance to communicate with the director one-on-one. It was not in our time. The directors of our period were a little more sweet and harsh, but more distant. They were a little despotic. Of course you’re like friends with those now. But there are still many friends who still do not learn about set morals and set ethics. Disregards. The way they talk to the director is not very pleasant. Of course, where will she learn? There are so many TV series, channels and directors. Who will teach what to whom? So we are very lucky. For example, we never had a caravan. There is now. At that time, we were asking the houses in the villages and towns. There were never any toilets inside the houses where we worked. Think about how long ago I’m talking about. Toilets and houses were separate, that is, where we worked. I truly belonged to the group that suffered.”
Career plan: She wants to bring different characters to life. “Charlize Theron had a movie called ‘The Murderer’. It’s an old movie for which it won an Oscar. Yes, I would like to act a different character.”
Her view of love: “Where do my feelings go? I believe that a person should have nothing left inside and live whatever she wants. From time to time, I had love-oriented returns. Rumi has a saying, “You are what you seek”. I no longer have a search for love and love. Because I’ve come to the point where true love is divine love, thank goodness. I used to think that love is becoming one with the person in front of you. But life has made me experience such things that the creator says, ‘No, I am the one who should be united’. That’s why I’m in a more sensible process now, where I control my emotions and discipline my ego.”
Who does she admire? Farah Zeynep Abdullah from the new generation likes Serenay Sarıkaya and Bergüzar Korel very much. “I admire and follow these three names very much with their professions, stances and sincerity. By the way, let me tell you what I love for my generation. I love Nazan Kesal. I love Vahide Perçin. İpek Bilgin, Bennu Yıldırımlar, these are my favorite actors.”
What advice does she give to young people who want to become actors? She recommends those who want to become actors to get training first. “Education is something that always equips people. It makes you strong, it allows you to stand firm and defend yourself against people correctly. It brings good text reading, good character creation. I’m all for education no matter what. Apart from that, they can work with managers who will make the right career planning. There are many good management agencies now. But I’m talking about really well-known management agencies. Stay away from casting agencies. It is not clear who did what. Let them leave the research with reference, not without being sure. Let them not want to be famous, just love their job. A person who truly loves her job achieves success at some point. Do what you love. Whatever job you love. Cooking is cooking, dentistry is dentistry, dietitian is dietitian, announcer is announcer, acting is acting. So when you can’t find a job, don’t sit down, get offended or get upset. If you love that job, it will definitely satisfy you and Allah will open your way and give you your food. As long as you discover the abilities in your existence, your system. What can I do? What subjects am I good at? For example, high school teachers can be a good reference source at this point. Share it with university professors. There is a musician, a painter, a friend who has devoted her heart to art, so they should consult with them. Let them talk about their abilities. But let them talk. The more they talk, the more ideas they get, the more they discover themselves, the more accurate planning young people can build their future. The profession they love is very important at this point.”
How does it keep its shape? She pays attention to healthy eating. “I am interested in herbal treatments and healthy eating. I follow İbrahim Saraçoğlu a lot. I haven’t met him, but I’m one of her big followers. I watched her programs and videos. I already have an infrastructure for years, but I understand that I am not properly fed even though I eat like this. There is no age to learn. For example, I eat more fruit now. I eat more colorful foods, I bring more antioxidant vegetables into my life. Although I love cakes, pastries and patisserie, I don’t buy them from outside. I always eat the bread I buy by frying it. I do not eat any cold products. If you have to order from outside, as there are many single people living alone, make sure to heat the food you order from outside. In the process my little belly went away.”
Concerns: She finds the negative effects of the coronavirus process on the art world worrying. “I think it affects a lot. Because most of my friends are unemployed right now. They don’t have a guarantee. When we say an artist, we should not only perceive it as an actor. I don’t know, it has musicians. In one way or another, there are band members who act at night and during the day, at universities, here and there. These are also artists. It should not be evaluated only in terms of actors. There are actors. There is the back of the theater. There are theater directors, theater costumers, friends who carry the scenery, who make the light of the theater. The same goes for arrays. What you call a series is not just the 10-person celebrity you see. There is the team behind it, there are the set workers. In the past, there was a daily diet. So they would give weekly. That system does not exist. Now everyone has money in 7-10 episodes. I’m not saying this in terms of actors. Because team spirit is very important to me when it comes to me only series. I count the set crew along with the actors. Because if you don’t team up there, you’re nothing. Without them, you are nothing, how will you shoot? It has a script group, a screenwriter, and a setup. When you think about each unit of these, there are too many people in our sector who are unemployed and have no financial means at the moment.”
Which movie was she influenced by? The films ‘Baba’ and ‘Çağrı’ are the two films she was most influenced by. “There are two movies in my life, I am very impressed every time I watch it. One is the movie ‘Çağrı’ and the other is the ‘Baba’ series. I wish I was someone who dusted on the sets of the two of them while those two movies were being shot. But the movie ‘Çağrı’ has a special place for me. But for example, a movie called ‘Avatar’ was made, it is so beautiful that its message is actually. When I look at ‘Avatar’ and our current life, we are actually stealing the lives of all living things. We invade their lives. Maybe there is another world in ‘Avatar’, but we keep our ‘Avatar’ alive, we keep those beautiful creatures alive.”
