Family: He was born in Kars as the son of the famous folk poet Aşık Murat Çobanoğlu, who was born in Kars and made his name known all over Turkey with his voice and words. The actor, who has a son named Doruk from his first marriage, made his second marriage with the presenter Ezgi Sertel, whom he knew in the TV series “Tek Türkiye”. The couple’s male twins Tibet and Mert were born in January 2020. “My father expended a lot on me, I claim that if it were not for him, I would never have been a theater actor. Childhood years: He lived in Kars until the age of 13, then he moved to Ankara with his family. Theater adventure began with high school. “My love for theater, which started in high school, became my profession in 2000 with my decision to enter the conservatory. I graduated in 2004, and my adventure in theater, cinema and TV series continues to this day.”
Education life: He graduated from Hacettepe University State Conservatory Theater Department in 2004. After working at Izmir and Ankara State Theaters, he has been a permanent member of Konya State Theaters since 2005.
The turning point of his life: “I was born in 1980. The last 20 years of my life have been spent acting. I played in nearly 20 plays in state theaters for 10 years. I played the leading roles in two musicals, ‘Balım’ and ‘İstanbulname’. Almost all the TV series I played were successful in the ratings and received awards. I also made movies. In 2009, I made the movie “Paramparça”, which I played the leading role and wrote the script, and which I produced when I was 29, and the psychological thriller “Eksik Sayfalar”, which I wrote, directed and acted in 2013. Cinema is where my heart beats, apart from TV series and theatre.”
The first step into acting: He started his television adventure in 2002 with the TV series “Sır Kapısı”.

Mindset: He says he never cared about being in the spotlight in acting. “There is only one thing I care about about this profession; produce as long as I breathe. I want to be calm, serene and understandable, and that my work is of good quality. As a young actor, I managed to fit theater plays, many TV series and movies into my professional life. I want to continue my professional life with the same care. I’m interested in what’s real, not what’s popular.
A source of happiness: A memory that he never forgot about his career is also one of the greatest sources of happiness. “I think my biggest memory is with the person I have admired since childhood; To act in the same theater with Zeki Alasya. We played each other in the musical ‘Balım’. This was his last job. Sharing the same stage with a legend, being his partner… This feeling is indescribable…”

Perspective on business life: He has acted in different roles in many productions until today. He doesn’t like to repeat himself. “I am an actor who avoids repeating myself. When I turn 50 and put photos of the characters I play side by side, I want to see different men. For me and people like me, acting is not a piece of cake. Unfortunately, some think acting is as easy as taking a selfie. A star must be human first. In fact, there are not many stars in Turkey. Star means star. The star is seen from everywhere. I’m not a star, I’m an actor.”
Career plan: Besides acting, he also writes screenplays. “I wrote two feature film scripts, ‘Paramparça’ in 2010 and ‘Eksik Sayfalar’ in 2013. I also directed “Eksik Sayfalar”. I hope to write and direct another movie in 2016. Cinema is my biggest love, I want to continue cinema as long as I exist.”
Future Dream: He wants to play the lives of people who have become big names in Turkey. “I want to play a biography. I want that character to be someone who has never been played before. For example, I would like to play Kazım Karabekir Pasha. As a leader in the Kuvayi Milliye period, he saves Eastern Anatolia from Russian occupation.”
What does he do at home? He watches a lot of movies in his spare time from work. “I try to watch foreign series. And I’m writing the script for my new movie. There is a saying; If you want to write, read. If you want to shoot, watch it. I also say; if you are a gamer, watch the masters. It is true that at this point I had to read a lot. As for watching; I watch whatever feels good to me. It doesn’t matter if it’s foreign or local.”
