Who is Huysuz Virgin?

Born in Trabzon in 1932, Seyfi Dursunoğlu came to Istanbul with his family in 1938. He started his high school life as a boarder at the Private Boğaziçi High School in Arnavutköy, and at the request of his family, he had to go to the Military Naval High School in Heybeliada in the 9th grade. Two years later, he left the Naval High School, which he could not adapt to, and moved to Haydarpaşa High School. After graduating from high school, he started to study English Philology at Istanbul University. After his father went bankrupt, he left his education there and went to the army. After completing his military service, he started to work as a civil servant in the Social Insurance Institution. He quit his job after working as a civil servant at SSK for 18 years.

In 1970, he first started performing in small clubs as Huysuz Virjin. As his fame spread, he started getting offers from bigger clubs. He shared the stage with well-known soloists of Turkey at the Izmir Fair every year.

In 2007, he announced that he would no longer revive Huysuz Virjin, on the grounds that the television channels on which his program was broadcast were indirectly pressured and censored by the Radio and Television Supreme Authority (RTÜK), but in 2012 he announced that he would no longer play Huysuz Virjin, but in 2012, “Huysuz’la Dans Eder misin?” presented the program.

Dursunoğlu, who has COPD, died on July 17, 2020. At Dursunoğlu’s request, all of the artist’s assets were donated to the Contemporary Life Support Association.
