Birce Akalay, who returned to the screen after four years, explained her excitement and feelings to Hakan Gence from Hürriyet Sunday supplement. The beautiful actress expressed her character Doctor Nilüfer in the TV series Bir Derdim Var with the following words:
“Nilüfer’s journey, just like those children and young people, went through the same stops, tried the same roads, made mistakes, sometimes got stuck in dead ends, but despite everything, she learned to find solutions, recovered and directed herself to use this feature, which can be seen as a flaw by most people, to heal young people.
Nilüfer is a woman with delusional disorder due to the traumas she experienced at a young age. So, if you ask, what is this delusional disorder? When she is under extreme stress and pressure, she sees the 15-year-old version of herself and talks to her.
Only her best friend and advisor, Yusuf, knows about her neurotic state. She once treated her and taught her to live with it. The person who guided Nilüfer to this profession is her doctor and also her mentor Sami. But Sami lost his life.
Nilufer, she thinks that if she was able to get out of this dark bottomless pit and do this job thanks to Doctor Sami, all the children in the world can do it today too, and why shouldn’t she achieve this? This utopian thought binds him tightly to life.”
