Famous comedian Doğu Demirkol, who won the ‘Best Actor’ award at the 5th Siyad Awards for his role as ‘Sinan’ in Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s ‘Ahlat Tree’ in 2019, is among the guests of Fatih Altaylı and Bire Bir, broadcast on Bloomberg HT. It was there.
In the program, Doğu Demirkol, who said that he suffered a great destruction with his poor performance in the talent contest he participated in the early stages of his journey to fame, made candid statements about his family and business life. Expressing that he even thought of doing stand-up on the ferry to show himself, Demirkol described his journey to fame with these words;
“I gave a very bad performance on Yetenek Sizsiniz programme. It was devastating for me too. My mother is a lawyer, my father is a doctor, my family wanted me to do a normal job. I studied computer engineering and they were like, ‘Why don’t you do your job?’ When I performed poorly in Yetenek Sizsiniz, my mom said, “At least you tried, son.” Then I went to a company for a job interview. There were three people in the interview, he said, “The three nos are from us…”.
I also studied computer engineering to keep my family busy, my dream was to be a comedian since I was little. Then I thought, what can I do, where can I show myself… I even thought of doing stand-up on the Kadıköy-Beşiktaş ferry.
Then there was a comedy club venue in Taksim. I went out there, it went very well. The manager of the place said, “Come out here every week,” but then the Gezi Park events started. Taksim was completely closed. Then they called from BKM Kitchen. Then I went on the Güldür Güldür Show. After that there was an explosion.”
The famous comedian, who wrote about his life and reflected this on the screens, said, “I recently made a TV series of my life. I am the son of a lawyer mother and a doctor father. In that environment, my effort to excel as a comedian is told. The jokes came out of the ukdes in me. I got very good responses. Demirkol stated that there will be a sequel to the movie “Ölümlü Dünya” and said, “Everyone in the team has different jobs. “We didn’t get together actively, but we talked about a sequel a year ago.”
