Famous actor İlker Kaleli has been talked about a lot on social media recently with the La Pasion Turca series broadcast in Spain.
The actor’s words about the series, which has gained great appreciation from Spanish viewers, are also very striking.
İlker Kaleli expressed the La Pasion Turca series with the following words in his interview in Hürriyet: “The Spanish thing was definitely a challenge, there is no such madness. Underwater cave diving, deep diving… I loved extremes in every sense.”
İlker Kaleli, who also told how his journey to Spain began, explained the offer and details of the La Pasion Turca series, which was also influenced by his past in the Serpent series, with the following words:
“It started very strangely. Two summers ago, I was sitting at home, the phone rang. My manager Zeynep (Berkiş) called and said, “There is a series offer from Spain.” We weren’t expecting it at all. I have a history in England because I played in the series ‘The Serpent’ before. I had meetings there as well. I never thought I would get an offer from Spain. I said, “Let’s see then.” I thought the Spanish were filming something in English, maybe some of it in Turkish. But then the scenes came, I saw that they were all in English. They also made a little note saying, “Some parts will be in Spanish.” There was no problem with it being in English. I prepared the test footage and sent it. They came to Istanbul and told the story.”
All 6 episodes of the series were going to be shot in Spanish, but İlker Kaleli had no knowledge of the language. The actor stated that they found a way to overcome this problem with the suggestions of the production team, and said the following:
“We can increase the English scenes a little, there will be some Turkish scenes. We can reduce the memorization part, we can adjust the English-Spanish ratio,’ they said.
A few days later, I went to Madrid, talked to the coaches there, and the process of getting an idea about Spanish and mastering the Spanish in the script began. I worked on the sentences and words one by one, syllable by syllable, I memorized them, it was very difficult. Some days I felt like I was going to throw myself out of the window in anger. Finally, I memorized all the episodes from episode 1 to the final of episode 6, and I passed them to the coaches, and their eyes filled with tears. We hugged each other.”
