Actor Birkan Sokullu, who has been performing successfully for two seasons with the character of “Han” he portrayed in the TV series Masumlar Apartmanı broadcast on TRT1, was a guest on the YouTube channel “Teras Noir” of his colleagues Meriç Aral and Efe Tunçer.
Sokullu, who made candid statements about his life in the program, said that he has a basketball background of about 12 years and said, “I started at a very young age, I played in infrastructure. Then I had the opportunity to make the A team and spent a year in a team that was in the first league at that time.
Actually, I wanted to be a very professional basketball player, but after taking only 50 seconds for a year, I thanked him very much and decided to say ‘Have a good day’ and continue playing in the school team.”
Birkan Sokullu stated that his father was instrumental in his interest in basketball and said, “My father loved basketball. Actually, since I am the child of a Bosnian family, there were many athletes in our family and generally everyone tended towards a sports branch.
I didn’t have that much interest, but one day my father took me to the basketball auditions, where there was a very good organization, and suddenly being in that hall, all those lights, adrenaline, maybe a feeling like being on the theater stage at that moment and I stayed there. I couldn’t get out of the feeling of that moment and I stayed in basketball”.
Stating that he does not use social media actively, the actor said: “My life is not on social media, I do not follow likes, of course I am aware of my profession, I am aware of people’s expectations and the power of social media, I do not completely ignore it.
I’m just trying to use it so as not to contradict the principles of this business. There is nothing that I constantly follow from there, Meriç knows. Of course, there are times when I open and look at some of the things that my friends send and we laugh among ourselves while on the set, but my life does not pass there. If you see a phone in my hand, I’m probably playing chess.”
