It would not be wrong to say Aşk-ı Memnu is one of the most memorable Turkish TV series of all time. The series, which still continues to have an impact despite 14 years after its publication, became the number one agenda of social media once again with the final episode aired yesterday.
Aşk-ı Memnu became a series that has been engraved in everyone’s memory with its Bihter, Behlül, Adnan and Nihal Ziyagil. It was such a successful production that even after 14 years, it still manages to be on the agenda in Turkey.
Aşk-ı Memnu has been repeated many times until today. Each time, the audience watched with excitement as if it was broadcast for the first time. The final episode of the repetition of Aşk-ı Memnu, which was broadcast on Teve2, was broadcast yesterday. Aşk-ı Memnu became the number one agenda item on social media after 14 years and who knows how many iterations it has. About 3,000 posts were made about Aşk-ı Memnu.
Aşk-ı Memnu, which was broadcast on Kanal D between 2008 and 2010, was adapted from Halid Ziya Uşaklıgil’s work of the same name. The series, shot by Ay Yapım and starring Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ, Beren Saat, Hazal Kaya and Selçuk Method, went down in history as the series with the highest viewing rate in Turkish TV series history with its final episode. Aşk-ı Memnu reached 23.4 views in total viewers and 27.1 in the AB group.
At the end of the series, which tells the story of the forbidden love between young and handsome Behlül Haznedar and his step-uncle Adnan Ziyagil’s young wife, Bihter Ziyagil, Bihter, played by Beren Saat, committed suicide by shooting herself with a gun.
The series impressed the Turkish audience so much that on the date of Bihter Ziyagil’s death, which was 24 June in the series, they typed on the Sarıyer Municipality Twitter account, “A Bihter Ziyagil passed from Sarıyer.” Ziyagil Mansion, where the series takes place, is located in Sarıyer.
