Turkey met with digital broadcast platforms for the first time with BluTV in 2015. The next year, another Turkish digital platform, Puhu TV, arrived. In the same year, the international platform Netflix also entered the Turkish market.
The great interest Netflix received in Turkey enabled other international platforms to open up to the Turkish market. Turkey is gaining two new digital broadcasting platforms very soon. Disney Plus and HBO Max will meet Turkish audiences very soon.
WarnerMedia’s subscription-based digital streaming platform, HBO Max, launched on October 26 in Northern European countries and Spain. The Turkey General Manager of the platform, which will expand to 21 regions of Europe, including Turkey, this year has been Barış Zavaroğlu, who previously also managed Turkcell TV+.
Platform officials, who negotiated for the broadcast rights of the latest Yargı series, previously bought the broadcasting rights of the TV series Sadakatsiz, Alev Alev, Sen Çal Kapımı, Menajerimi ARa, Kara Sevda, Kızım, Kadın, Babil, Mucize Doktor and Baraj.
Disney Plus, another digital broadcasting platform, plans to meet with Turkish audiences in August. The second project of the platform, which started its work in Turkey with the TV series Kaçış, in which Engin Akyürek and İrem Helvacıoğlu will take the leading roles, was the series in which Aras Bulut İynemli will portray Atatürk. The platform, which will also shoot a series with Can Yaman, is meeting with names such as Çağatay Ulusoy, Pınar Deniz, Hafsanur Sancaktutan, Hande Erçel.
