Family: His real name, Dagestan İnanç Konukçu, was born and raised in Ankara, his father passed away when he was still in his mother’s womb. “I grew up with my mother and three siblings in Keçiören, Ankara. My father died of a heart attack at the age of 34 while my mother was four months pregnant with me. That’s why I grew up as the youngest in the hands of a woman like the government. My brother took over the role of father. He’s like a father, but there’s someone like him. I experienced the absence of the Father. But inside the house I became his legacy. I was very spoiled because I was the precious of the house. My mother had us all read with what was left of the father. One has to live for a long time to love Ankara. Ankara is sweet. Maybe arabesque will come, but when you go there, Ankara will embrace you and say, ‘You are my child too.

Childhood years: Although he never knew his father, he sees himself as a lucky child because he was raised with great interest. “I was an ordinary, but lucky child. Since I was born after my father’s death, I grew up among women. I can say that I used the attention shown to me a little bit because I was a vigilant child. I grew up in the hands of women, my mother, my aunts, my grandmother, my sister. I think every boy who grew up in the hands of women is very lucky. During your adolescence, when you made idealistic speeches, when you were 15 years old, when your mind was not working, your neurons were on fire, and your mind was on one spot, I was saying, ‘I will become a computer engineer’. I wanted to be an architect for a while. Meanwhile, I got into the animation business. I was clown. There was a theater where I worked at that time. I said, ‘Can I do it myself?’ But I had no money. I told the owner of Theater Roof. He trained me and I took the exams. I am waiting in the garden of Ankara University Language History. I took the exam for the first time. The 10 winners are announced. Among the names that were read was the name İnanç Konukçu. I shouted, ‘Come on, gooool’.

Education life: He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Language, History and Geography, Department of Theater, Department of Acting.

The turning point of his career: He describes the breaking point of his life as “I went to an audition for a act and met Erdal Beşikçioğlu, that wonderful man.” “My first year of school started my despair. Because theater is a big claim. The job I was having fun was going to another dimension and I was intimidated. At the end of the first year, I thought of leaving school. After that, I met a teacher like Durukan Ordu. It was a turning point for me to see that man’s working method and his view of theater. I was in 4th grade. Together with my classmate Ali Yoğurtçuoğlu, we heard that the Mojo act was going to be staged in Dibsahne, owned by Erdal brother, and we went to the auditions. We were incredibly excited. I was saying ‘No way’ but I want the role of Bebe. Who wouldn’t want that role? We did reading rehearsals. One day, İlham Yazar came and said, “Şekerci Ali Yoğurtçuoğlu, Sıska Berkan Şal, Bebe İnanç Konukçu”. Boiling water poured over my head. I said, ‘What am I going to do, what did I put my hand under?’ In fact, I went to Erdal and İlham brother and said, “Sorry, I’m very scared”. It was as if I had scored an own goal. But we came out with a clear conscience. The game is over after a year. Then I came to Istanbul for test shoots. After the 20th, I fell into despair and decided to go to London. People cannot create their own luck in this country. I need luck. Because being good in this country is not enough. You have to show yourself. I got lucky too. A director like Serdar Akar came to Ankara. I heard about Behzat Ç.’s auditions. Then Erdal Abi introduced me to Serdar Akar. I had no hope that this would work. One day they called and said, ‘We are waiting for you at the costume rehearsal tomorrow’. I said, ‘Here you go, one more goal, but this is ninety straight’. I am very lucky to meet nice people.”

First step into acting: He started his television adventure in 2005 with the TV series ‘Karanlıktaki Umut’.

Which project did it shine with? He attracted attention with the character of “Hayalet”, which he played in the TV series “Behzat Ç, Bir Ankara Polisiyesi”, which he played between 2010-2013.

Personality traits: He is at peace with himself, distant, self-conscious, domestic, animal lover. “I don’t open myself right away, I’m distant, it takes some time. I am very envious of people who are immediately friendly. I am a quiet person who likes to deal with work and home, watching movies and playing with his dog.”

First feature film: Serdar Akar / Behzat Ç. Seni Kalbime Gömdüm

Views on business life: He doesn’t care about being famous, he doesn’t like to watch himself on the screen. “One of the people I took as an example in my life showed me the bad by saying, ‘You can’t act to pick up girls. But when I first became famous, I wanted everything. Then I realized that fame is a fake thing. Fame was a very pleasant feeling at first, as it was something I had never tasted before. But then you find that your life is constrained. This time, you are establishing a smaller order for yourself. You are starting to spend more and more time at home. The attractive situation pushes you into your shell after a while. Of course, I’m a semi-famous man, not quite famous. I hate watching myself on screen! You get used to it after a while, but it’s not easy, people criticize everything. Your tone, posture, hair, structure of your nose, especially if you have a nose like me. You say, ‘Why did I stand there like that, why did I look like that?’ What you’ve been watching, I’ve watched five thousand times. I’m actually a self-confident man, but watching it on screen is different.”

Concerns: He finds the inability to write good screenplays and screenplays worrying. “Career anxiety is something that exists not only for players in Turkey, but also for every profession in the world. I have friends who have studied other departments at universities and are very successful, and they have the same anxiety. As for me, I also have career anxiety. Everyone wants to play good projects too. We talked about the problem in the cinema recently. There is already a financial problem in the cinema. Apart from that, I think we have a writer problem. Just asking why character actors come out in Turkey. Because there are only character writers in Turkey. First of all, you have to look for a writer so you can look for an actor. After that, how objectively are the historical heroes handled? We need to avoid the populist side of things. We will process a historical hero, but we will be able to process it as much as we want how true it is. Or how much will the public accept it? There is something like this in the TV series industry, no matter what you do, you cannot prevent yourself from repeating yourself. Because you get a hundred pages of scripts a week and you shoot 39 episodes a year. That’s 3900 pages, and I think it should really build a staff of writers. I think it’s unfair that only one person wrote it. And it’s unfair that it’s that long.”
