TRT 1’s new series ‘Kara Ağaç Destanı’ (Black Tree Epic) met with the audience for the first time on Friday, February 23, with its first episode. The Kara Ağaç Destanı, which started in the 1950s and continued in the 1970s, tells the story of goodness and evil, the world of existence and the reality of absence side by side in the ancient lands of Anatolia.
Starring Olgun Şimşek, Emre Kıvılcım, Meltem Akçöl, Özlem Conker, Hakan Boyav, Merih Öztürk, the series is produced by Hasan Karul and Ufuk Hakan Eren is in the director’s chair.
The curious characters and all the details of the Kara Ağaç Destanı, in which the story of power, feudalism, class conflicts and love are told through the Agha system, are as follows:
Celal Ağa (Olgun Şimşek): An ambitious and harsh-tempered man, Celal Ağa’s only concern is his lands and the lordship system he has established. He is strongly attached to his traditions and possessions, so he does not want to lose any of them. There is no limit to what they can do if they set their sights on this.
Ömer (Emre Kıvılcım): Ömer, the only son of Celal Ağa, is brave and brave as well as just and merciful. He developed the barren lands of the Kara Ağaç Plain with his work and turned it into a paradise. He is the person whom the workers love and respect, and whom everyone wants to be their master.
Sultan (Meltem Akçöl): She is the daughter of Osman Ağa. Sultan, a determined, brave and ambitious woman, was exiled from Kara Ağaç with her mother Raziye and dreamed of the day she would return to her hometown.
Asiye (Özlem Conker): She feels the deep guilt and pain of the big secret she hid from everyone. She has gone through such difficult times that she has lost the joy of life. Her eyes are always on the roads, looking for an answer in every stranger who comes to the village.
Devranoğlu Latif Bey (Hakan Boyav): Devranoğulları is a deep-rooted family that has existed in the lands of Kara Ağaç for a thousand years. For this reason, Latif Bey secretly despises Celal Ağa. He is a true strategy genius. He takes his steps cautiously and deeply. Unlike Celal Ağa, he acts without succumbing to his anger.
Gülnaz (Merih Öztürk): She is the elder daughter of Devranoğlu Latif Bey. She is a very beautiful and attractive girl. Shee does not inhibit her emotions. Although she predicts that her family will not approve, she does not hesitate to reciprocate the love of Merdo, one of Ömer’s best friends.
Pasha Kadin (Ayten Uncuoğlu): She is the wise person and healer of the Kara Ağaç. She lives in a cave on the hill, which the villagers call ‘Paşatepe’. She is the only person who has her own property in Celal Agha’s lands. She is someone that everyone, including Celal Ağa, has great respect for.
