Sunset Film, the producer of the Yeşilçam series, is preparing to sign a period series once again. The first announcement of the series named Otello Kamil was actually made months ago, but there was no sound again. Writer Levent Cantek, who previously wrote the script of the series Halka, announced that he has started working for Otello Kamil.
The new series, named Otello Kamil, will tell the story of the actor Kamil Rıza Bey, who lived between 1887 and 1934. The actor got this nickname because he played the famous English writer Shakespeare’s play Othello very often during his lifetime.
Kamil Rıza Bey, who suffered from economic difficulties and deteriorated due to his addiction to cigarettes and alcohol, had to have both legs amputated due to Reyno’s disease. The actor passed away in 1934.
The name that will play Kamil Rıza in the Otello Kamil series is not yet clear. However, for the new series, it is planned to establish a very strong cast, as in Yeşilçam.
The series, which is planned to consist of eight episodes, will take three months to shoot. The story of the series will take place between 1924-34. Therefore, a high-budget period drama awaits the audience. The shooting of the series, which will be broadcast on Netflix, will begin when the script is completed. Meanwhile, the cast will be formed.
