Actress İrem Helvacıoğlu was the guest of Empati, which is broadcast on NTV every Wednesday with the presentation of Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan. Stating that he worked in different professions before acting, Helvacıoğlu stated that he also worked as a shop assistant and waiter for a while.
Regarding this issue, the actress explained the following: “After graduating from high school, I worked as a waiter in a cafe, then as a cashier in a store, and I also worked as a salesgirl. I worked at the cafe for 6 months, my father said, “You can only work for 1 week.” I see it as experience. The place I lived in was my protected area, I wanted to go out of my comfort zone, I wanted to see how to talk to people, to be able to struggle, to get involved in life. “I left there for the conservatory, and the owner of the cafe said to me, ‘This is your home, you can always come back.'”
İrem Helvacıoğlu, who does not agree with the idea that women should be strong, underlined that women go through great difficulties and expressed her belief that they do not need to be so strong, with the following words:
“I don’t want women to be this strong sometimes anymore. Because there are so many stories like this, why would they have such a mission? and this still continues… You can get away with it by apologizing and saying I’m very sorry, these are very painful stories. I always say that it is not our country’s problem, it is the world’s problem!
A woman always has to be strong, a woman always has to struggle and somehow cope with this… We had a neighbor in the past, her husband wanted a divorce because he drank too much alcohol, his father said that only the dead can enter this house, if necessary, your husband will kill you, you cannot return to your father’s house, you get divorced. “You can’t return to this house like this” he said.
“The woman works, gets her money, loses it in gambling, comes back and beats his wife again, asking why she doesn’t have money… You see these.”
