When you look at the TV series adapted in Turkey in recent years, the influence of South Korea was clearly felt. For example, Aşk Mantık İntikam has been going on since the summer months as a product of this effect. Adapted from the production of Cunning Single Lady, Aşk Mantık İntikam owes its successful performance to its story. Although the story has shifted from romantic comedy to drama lately, it’s clear that the show has performed well.

After the adaptations made from South Korean TV series, the British influence began to be felt with the TV series Sadakatsiz last season. Sadakatsiz, adapted from the production of Doctor Foster, was so successful that adaptations of new British productions filled the screens in the new season.

The TV series Evlilik Hakkında Her Şey appeared as an adaptation of The Split. Successfully progressing on Tuesdays, the series features influential female actors such as Gökçe Bahadır, Sumru Yavrucu, Gökçe Eyüboğlu, Tülin Ece and appeals to female audiences.

Another of the influential British TV series adaptations of this season was Yalancılar ve Mumları. Influential names such as Ceren Moray, Elçin Sangu, Feyyaz Duman, İsmail Demirci, Melike Güner, İlker Kızmaz and Şafak Pekdemir are featured in the series, which started broadcasting on Fox TV on Sunday evenings.

The influence of the British TV series also increased with the show TV’s “Yalancı” series broadcast on Friday evenings. Yalancı series, which brings Burçin Terzioğlu and Salih Bademci together in the lead roles, actually appeared before the audience as an adaptation of the British production The Liar.

Viewers are currently watching 4 different English adaptations on different screens. All the series managed to impress a considerable audience. So why did the English adaptations come to the fore so much?

Sina Koloğlu, one of the writers of Milliyet, stated that he asked the leaders of the sector about this issue and gave the following answer:

“Companies are looking at their productions. And examples that can suit us are selected. There were Nippon TV productions before. Currently, British projects have caught our attention. There is no other reason.

We take the subject of the productions and write our own stories on them. So the issue is important. It doesn’t matter where in the world it’s written.”
