The American series New Amsterdam, which aired in 2018, managed to impress a wide audience around the world. The first domestic adaptation of the series, which was broadcast on Netflix, was the project named Hayat Bugün (Life Today). A very important group of actors met in Hayat Bugün, the first episode of which was broadcast on Show TV on Thursday, October 19th.
The audience showed great interest in the social media platforms, in which successful names such as Ulaş Tuna Astepe, Hazar Ergüçlü, Tansel Öngel, Hande Doğandemir, Mert Denizmen and Şerif Erol took part in the cast. As Ulaş Tuna Astepe previously explained, Hayat Bugün, which distributes favors and gives a positive message, left a good impression on the screen.
It was understood by the actor’s statement that Tansel Öngel was among the audience when the New Amsterdam TV series was first broadcast. In the original story, the name of Doctor Floyd Reynolds in the Turkish adaptation is played by Doctor Aras Demirci and Tansel Öngel. Tansel Öngel, who dreamed of making this series in Turkey when New Amsterdam was broadcast, got the project he dreamed of after 4 years.
Tansel Öngel, who spoke with Hande Doğandemir and Hazar Ergüçlü in the program he attended on Show TV, reminded his of the words he said in 2018 and conveyed the following:
“I watched New Amsterdam the week it first came out. I said, ‘I wish we could do this job. Then, 2,5 years passed when Saner brother (Ayar) called. I was both surprised and not surprised.”
It is understood from these words of Tansel Öngel that producer Saner Ayar decided to make the domestic version of the New Amsterdam series in 2020. This shows that both the license agreements of the series and the creation of the team spanned a long period of time.
Tansel Öngel also thinks that the doctor characters in the series can set an example in the field of health. Regarding the impact of the series on the world of health, the actor said, “I think the doctors in our story will be an example for many people. It really is,” he said.
