It is obvious that TRT1, which has been working on telling the story of Barbaros Hayreddin Pasha for 3 years, has not reached the point it aimed at. Engin Altan Düzyatan and Ulaş Tuna Astepe took the lead roles in the first season, which was broadcast last year under the name Barbaroslar Sword of the Mediterranean.
Despite the big claim of the series, the shortcomings were felt very much in terms of both the story and the shooting. Therefore, it was not possible for the series to continue as it is.
A new concept was created with the name of Barbaros Hayreddin (Barbaros Hayreddin Sultan’s Edict) and Tolgahan Sayışman took the lead role. The series is broadcast on Friday evenings, but the big ratings that TRT1 is aiming for are not coming. However, despite this situation, a reality emerged that became a matter of prestige for the public broadcaster.
Telling the story of one of the most important sailors of Turkish history, like Barbaros Hayreddin Pasha, deserves special attention. But viewers have not yet paid enough attention to the story of this historical character.
Tolgahan Sayisman, on the other hand, explained that there was no problem other than various accidents and mishaps on the set, and that everything was fine for him.
The famous actor said, “It is very enjoyable, we have a lot of fun on the set. It’s a job that I really enjoy. No matter how tired I am, I have nothing to complain about,” he said.
Referring to the fact that the series is very rich in action, the actor explained that some accidents may occur in the set environment. Sayışman said, “Even if there are minor accidents and some mishaps, I enjoy it.”
The idea of transforming the strong character of Barbaros Hayreddin Pasha, who wrote his name in Turkish naval history with golden letters, into a series turned into a project that took the first steps 3 years ago.
However, although the story of this project was shot in two different versions, it was understood that there was not a strong audience interest when the ratings were looked at.
It is also eagerly awaited how TRT1 will decide on the project, which is expected to continue until the end of the season.
