The shooting of the TV series of the same name, adapted from Ferzan Özpetek’s film Cahil Periler (Ignorant Fairies), shot 22 years ago, took place in Italy last summer. The series, starring master actor Serra Yılmaz and one of the successful names of the new generation, Burak Deniz, meets with the US audience.
Ferzan Özpetek, who has been continuing his career in Italy for years, shot the movie Ignorant Fairies in 2000. The movie made a huge impact when it was released and was very popular. The Ignorant Fairies series was made into a series for Disney Italy years later.
The eight-episode series was shot in Italy last summer. Some of the scenes were shot in Istanbul. Serra Yılmaz, one of Turkey’s most successful actors, and Burak Deniz, one of the shining names of the last period, also took part in the series.
Ignorant Fairies hits theaters in Italy on April 13. The series, which first conquered Italy, is now shown in the USA. The series will appear in front of the US audience on Hulu TV.
Despite starring in many TV series, Burak Deniz made the biggest break of his career with the Maraşlı TV series. Right after the end of the series, the handsome actor went to Italy to take a role in Ferzan Özpetek’s Ignorant Fairies series for Disney Plus.
Burak Deniz played a Turkish photographer named Asaf in the series. The actor, who stayed in Italy for a while for the shooting of Ignorant Fairies, returned to Turkey after the shooting in Italy was over and took part in the shooting of the last episode of the series in Istanbul.
Actress Serra Yılmaz, who starred in the movie Ignorant Fairies and also in the TV series 20 years ago, said in an interview, “At first, I was skeptical of the idea of turning a cult movie into a TV series. On set, that feeling completely disappeared. All the movies we made with Ferzan were enjoyable, but some were more enjoyable. There is a great enthusiasm, a great youth, maybe a little carefree in Ignorant Fairies,” bhe said.
