Sema Ergenekon, the screenwriter of the Yargı (Family Secrets) series, which crowned its third season at its peak with the International Emmy Award, continues to play tricks on the audience.
Ergenekon, who was the guest of Asu Maro for the Interview of the Month in the January 2024 issue of Milliyet Sanat, sincerely answered questions about the awards the series won and the changes it created in her life, her private life and her relationship with her husband Uğur Aslan.
Sema Ergenkon said, “This is my 15th year in the profession, I learned so much in ‘Yargı’, to listen to my intuition, not to silence my inner voice, to choose it,” and added, “My inner voice is very strong, ‘Yargı’ taught me that.”
Sema Ergenekon, the screenwriter of “Yargı”, which won the Best Telenovela award at the 51st International Emmy Awards, says that she felt that they would receive the award while going to the ceremony: “When I was a candidate, I knew that our candidacy would be accepted, I also knew that we would receive an award. It’s an intuition. It’s not belief or even intuition. “I think I was the most believing person in the team.”
Speaking about the rule-breaking character of Ceylin, one of the shining stars of the series, Sema Ergenekon expressed how much she cared about the script with the statement, “Every path leading to the story is acceptable for me.”
Sema Ergenekon: “But I am a little more of a coward. I try not to break the rules. I am a more controlled person. Maybe I resemble Ilgaz in that sense. But maybe there is a part of me that wants to be Ceylin, which I keep under pressure,” she expressed her feelings.
Sema Ergenekon, who had cancer 10 years ago, explained how this experience changed her life with the following words:
“In the past, I was stuck with certain burdens and shackles, such as not wanting to upset others or spoil the atmosphere, as if it would be a shame. Now I can choose myself and my own emotions. I forgive myself even when I can’t do it. I have a more positive relationship with myself… If I hadn’t experienced something like that, I think I would have a very difficult life right now, I would be unhappy. “I made the biggest change by turning towards myself.”
“Uğur is my mentor, my best friend, the man I love”
Speaking candidly about her relationship with her husband Uğur Aslan, who also starred in “Yargı”, Ergenekon explained the following details about her marriage, which many of her fans were curious about:
“We are not a very romantic couple. I think we are a more realistic and real life couple. First of all, we are very good friends. He is my closest confidant. I tell him everything I experience and ask him stories. On the one hand, he is my mentor, my best friend, the man I love, the father of my children, he has such a comprehensive definition in my life that he is very valuable. But I believe the most important thing is friendship within marriage.”
