Kanal D, which has produced very successful series projects one after another in recent years, also made an ambitious entry into the 2022-2023 season. However, neither the O Kız (That Girl) series nor the Veda Mektubu (Farewell Letter), the second part of which was published, did not bring the success that the channel management desired.
Since September 2021, the Yargı (Judgment) series has never fallen off the agenda, in the process of creating strong series that started with the Sadakatsiz (Unfaithful) series and continued with the Camdaki Kız (Girl in the Glass) series. Üç Kız Kardeş (Three Sisters), which went on the air in February 2022, was a very effective project and brought significant gains to Kanal D.
Kanal D management, which has signed very important TV series projects one after another, intended to continue this process in the new season with the O Kız series.
However, although it is a strong drama series and has a very influential actor like Erkan Petekkaya in the lead role, the finale of this project will be published soon. In other words, The O Kız series will remain as a short-term series of Kanal D’s target of long-term productions spread over the last 3 years.
After the TV series Arka Sokaklar (Back Streets) could not reach its old ratings and said goodbye to the screen after a series of problems, new projects came to the fore for Kanal D.
One of these new series is Veda Mektubu (Farewell Letter). The series, whose first episode aired last Monday evening, had very low ratings. The second episode also met with the audience and the ratings are counting. In other words, the Veda Mektubu, which is expected to make a very effective debut, seems to be a stillborn project.
The low interest of the audience in the Veda Mektubu, which brought together important names such as Nurgül Yeşilçay, Selim Bayraktar, Bennu Yıldırımlar, Rabia Soytürk and Emre Kıvılcım, was a second shock for Kanal D.
After the early farewell of the O Kız series and the lack of interest in the Veda Mektubu series, Kanal D’s success in the last 3 years began to be questioned. At this point, the introductions of the Kraliçe (Queen) series began to be published.
The series, starring Burcu Özberk and Gökhan Alkan duo, is expected to meet with the audience in a week or two. The ratings for the show will be very important.
If the Kraliçe series cannot show a good rating output, the perception that there is a problem in choosing a series for Kanal D will also get stronger.
Of course, both O Kız and the Veda Mektubu were carefully prepared projects that brought together strong stories and cast. However, all of this doesn’t make much sense if the audience doesn’t show enough interest.
