Family: His real name is Dursun Ali Atay. He was born in Rize and grew up in Kocamustafapaşa. He was 16 years old when his father died. She married actress Hazal Kaya on February 6, 2019. The couple has a son named Fikret Ali. “I have never lived in Rize, I grew up in Istanbul. We have a house there from my grandparents. We are constantly trying to go there with my brother. The 100-year-old house is about to be destroyed, we think we should have it renovated without spoiling its originality. We still haven’t decided. ”

Childhood years: There are no other artists in his family. He started thinking that he could be an actor in his high school years. “There was nobody in the family interested in art. Someone did not direct me on this issue. This happened spontaneously. It’s a process that starts in high school. I never thought I could act or play the guitar and sing. I didn’t have such a feeling either. It happened spontaneously over time. It actually originated in high school. The story of joining a theater team with his group of friends started. We had a teacher we loved very much and he was running the theater club. I entered the theater club to be with him and we started having fun there. Little games, I found myself there somehow. ”

Education life: He graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State Conservatory Theater Department in 1999.

First step into acting: He started his television adventure with the character of ‘Ersin’ in the ‘İkinci Bahar’ series.

With which project did he shine? He drew attention with the character of “Mecnun Çınar” in the TV series “Leyla and Mecnun”.

Personality traits: Stubborn, determined, impulsive, humorous, funny. “I have impulsive outbursts from time to time. At times I feel very annoyingly funny, when I say funny I’m talking about being funny, then I laugh at myself. My laziness, my seeming impractical situation makes me say ‘Or just go’ sometimes to the man. I may have resembled my grandmother, and she was like that, a lethargic or hyperactive woman. His head was always a freak. ”

The source of happiness: He likes to tell stories. The field he directed is one of the areas where he feels the happiest. “You are given a space, you have the chance to build the world you want there. I acted, sang, wrote stories. All of them had their own enthusiasm. But the effort to build a world in front of the monitor was like the sum of all this. ”

First motion picture: Abdullah Oğuz / Kırlangıç

His view of life: I want to write stories from small details and tell them how they are, whatever they are. This would be a movie, there would be little stories, there would be music. I love shooting movies. I’m telling you very frankly, when compared to acting, making movies gives me a greater pleasure. A lot of our friends were offended by his first movie. I do not want to be offended. Because we’re a little sensitive people. We can be very sad if terrible things are said. ”

His view of business life: He does not only look at business life from the acting perspective, he thinks broadly. “I’ve never been able to do this in my life. Even when I was studying at the conservatory, I wasn’t just thinking about acting. I’m thinking about a storytelling in general. The song also has a story, both the movie, the story you wrote, and the novel. Whatever you are busy with, anything you do, the painting you draw has a story. I am more interested in the narration of that story. What I do, work on and spend a lot of time on includes both music, painting and acting. You inevitably go after them when you have a little understanding and enjoyment of everything it hosts. So is the music. I’m writing a song and I don’t really know how I wrote it. We are writing a script. I’m not interested in the writing techniques of the script. I’m interested in the moment he drags me. I’m writing stories. I start telling myself by entering the story without forming the beginning of the story, the whole roof, and I love this process. ”

Career plan: His films contain the influence of independent cinema and art films, as well as works made for the box office. His works are liked by the audience of both genres. He explains how he managed to bring these two poles closer together with the following words; “I think we need to use this as a way, a method to open up to the world. Because our vein of humor is incredibly developed. We know what people in all parts of the world are laughing at. We know British, Italian, French, American, North American humor, Canadians don’t laugh much, but they also have little comic movies. We know all of these, we are entitled to it. We must sell our own humor to the world. The subject that I have been focusing on for years is humor, comedy, comedy acting. The way we can get this to the world in a way is actually to make the formula we tried through independent cinema. To somehow show the world what belongs to us, what we laugh at. Actually, I am not saying this as a method or a formula. This is what I set myself, “I wonder if we can do it”. ”

Dream of the Future: In his own words, he is not dreaming, but dreamed too much. “To see the scenes even while shooting the movie, it’s actually a ‘dream’. I try to guide the players there by going over the things I see. I’m trying to match the music to them. I’m trying to adjust the whole rhythm to them. I’m trying to adjust all of your rhythm, all of your metronome accordingly. So it seems to me that if I dream early, I will strive for it. Let’s say I want to shoot the Hazy Continents Atlas very much. I mean, as a spectator, I would be in a position to say ‘No, man, can I explain? That’s why I’m a little scared to dream. Not necessary. It will find its place in time. I mean, dreams turn into projects, you create a project or something, but I have dreams to stay with myself. I think of them before I go to bed. I’m having fun thinking about them. Other than that, I don’t have big dreams to turn into projects, but big business, I’m not afraid of big risks. Because I have nothing to lose. ”

Concerns: Censorship and injustice are the issues that worry him the most. “Stop shooting my film from the festival because of censorship, I risk leaving the country. The concept of injustice can depress me. I think people can’t express themselves. This is also at the root of injustice. Sometimes people are left in such terrible situations that their lives are over before they can speak out. Everyone is in a position ready to attack anyone who shoots something. This is very scary. You can also see this through what people post on social media. While talking about it, we don’t weigh where it will go. This brings us to the point of more intolerant and rapid consumption. Quick forgetting of something also gives an opportunity to the bad-intentioned person with the feeling “We did it but it will be forgotten anyway.”
