Family: Mother and father are teachers. She has a daughter named Gün from her marriage to film director Fatih Kızılgök, whom she divorced in 2020. “My mom and dad are teachers. At first, they were very against me being an actor because they wanted me to be a teacher. My father reacted by saying ‘theater actors are hungry’. The family assembly convened, and when I cried and cried, they believed how badly I wanted this job. Then my mother stepped in. He went to the conservatory to talk to Zeliha Berksoy. ‘Let my daughter be a teacher first, you will finish your school. He will do this job as a hobby, buy it later “. Thank God they couldn’t find Zeliha Hodja. They met with Cumhur Hodja and listened to the importance of this work from him. My mother came home proudly! That year I entered the state theater, I started to take roles in private theaters. As I graduated, they became proud of me as they saw how precious my profession is. ”
Educational life: She graduated from Mimar Sinan University Theater Department.
How she decided to become an actress: While studying teaching, she turned to acting and quit her school and entered the conservatory. “I was studying teaching at Istanbul University. I started school at a very early age. I was just 18 years old when I finished third grade. But at that time I realized that I didn’t want to teach, that what I really wanted was acting. It will be a bit cliché but I was watching a lot of plays already. I was always in theater clubs at university. I progressed by finding the methods myself, enrolling in the course, and making friends with theater actors. Then I was already prepared for the conservatory exams and I won. ”
First step into acting: She started her television adventure in 2006 with the character ‘Sedef’ in the ‘Back Streets’ series.
With which project did she shine? She drew attention with the character of “Gülnaz” in the “Ustura Kemal” series.
Personality traits: Sympathetic, friendly, humorous, cheerful, energetic. “I’m a bit of a diver. I do not take worldly things seriously; It’s not about my overthrow of things, but this. It’s a reflex I brought from my childhood. Maybe this is an issue I have to solve myself, I don’t know. It can be a defense mechanism. I do not hide my feelings. Whatever comes to me at that moment, if I do not bother or harm the other person, I experience that feeling and show it to the other person. Also, I trust my instincts. Whatever I initially think of an event or a person is usually true. ”
Mindset: I am not a very daunting person in my relationships and my outlook on life. When I do something, I want to resolve all other issues related to it. I try to do what I want to do without breaking or spilling anyone. I try to keep all those ties with a smooth transition. The most daunting action I’ve ever done was to quit teaching and enter the conservatory, but I was 18 at that time. I am now in my 30s. There is a huge difference between me today and me today. Then suddenly my eyes went black and I did this despite my family. But today, I would definitely not be as impulsive as back then. ”
The first movie: Talip Ertürk – Murat Emir Eren / Ada: Zombilerin Düğünü
Her look at love: “It’s not a normal feeling, it’s love. Closed loop thing. It’s a switch. But it’s definitely not such a long, long-lasting feeling. Something shorter. I do not believe in the concept of eternal love, I think there is no such thing. ”
Her view of life: She stopped thinking about the future, now she is living in the moment. She dreams, but she creates great motivations for herself for these dreams and does not live accordingly. “I am not disappointed in this way either. I learned to live more everyday and I enjoy it. Of course things changed after I had a child. That future anxiety comes from time to time, but I guess I learned not to give myself to that feeling, to fight. Because now I know this very well. Life is hidden now, not in the future. Because I don’t know if living what I want in the future will make me happy. That is why I am concerned with my current happiness or my unhappiness. I am not trying to resolve the anxiety of five days later today. ”
Her view on business life: She sees the emergence of very young writers, directors and actors who are hopeful for the sector as a pleasing development. “Thus, there began to be variety and difference in cinema. I think the increase in variety is very appetizing for both the actor and the audience. I am very hopeful. As long as meeting with directors is not a problem, actors are there for it. I think now the directors choose their actors because they know their actors, they want people who know their limits and can predict what they can do. Somehow this event has a public effect, of course, if I am more on the screen, more people know me and the directors can understand where I can go and give me more places in their films. But this is a bit of a director-actor relationship. Of course, the star system is still ongoing, but I think the directors are generally oriented towards their acquaintances. I think there is a lack of women’s films. Women’s stories are not written much in this country. ”
Dream of the Future: She definitely wants to finish teaching. “I still want to open a school where I can teach pre-school gifted and retarded students through drama. I will complete school for this. ”
Concerns: There are many issues that she is concerned about; “Femicide, climate crisis… Which one should I count. But one of the more personal, instant things is; traffic.”
