Family: She was born in Istanbul as the daughter of a chemical engineer mother and father. She uses the phrase ‘She was my first acting teacher’ for her mother.
Childhood years: She admits that she knew I would be an actress almost from childhood. “When the engineer was the child of my parents, I guess that situation had some influence on my choice of department. On the one hand, I was already with the players of Boğaziçi University. When you look at it that way, acting isn’t an afterthought for me.”
Education life: She graduated from Austrian High School and Boğaziçi University, Department of Chemistry. She was among the ‘Bogazici University Players’ during her university years. She also attended Istanbul University State Conservatory Singing Department as a part time she. She studied at Akademi Istanbul for a year with a scholarship. She did her master’s degree at Roosevelt University in Chicago, again on a scholarship. Her play, The American Dream, was staged by Ensemble Theater on Off-Broadway.
The turning point of her life: She states that she actually entered Boğaziçi University not for the Department of Chemistry, but to be an actress.
The first step into acting: She started her television adventure in 2006 with the character of “Dilfiruz”, which she portrayed in the TV series “Dicle”. In 2004, she played in the “Cinderella” episode directed by Selim Demirdelen in the movie Anlat Istanbul, the screenplay of which was written by Ümit Ünal.
Which project did she shine with? She attracted attention with the character of “Asuman”, which she portrayed in the TV series “Hanınım Çiftliği”.
Personality traits: She states that she is a tough and straight-looking person as a person. “When I get to know them closely, everyone sees how warm-blooded I am, but there is an illusion of perception as a first impression in people.”
Mindset: There is always something that wants to learn. “Many people tell me ‘you are younger than you are’. I think that’s where it comes from. I am tremendously interested in learning. I value potential. I believe in the importance of respecting one’s place rather than trying to be ‘great’.”
Her view of love: “Love about life motivates me. The love for a lover, the love in the relationship with your mother, the love between two friends… The bond I build with everything I love excites me and increases my enthusiasm for life.”
Source of happiness: She lost her mother in 2020 Being her mother’s daughter is one of the greatest sources of happiness. “My biggest thanks in life to my mother.”
First feature film: Selim Demirdelen / Anlat Istanbul
Her outlook on life: She is going through a period where she discovers many things about life and herself. “I am in the maturation phase. I am more clear and realistic with myself. I say what I want openly. I filed my rebellion. I take care not to adopt wrong styles out of anger. I moved away from unnecessary sociability, cleaned my surroundings. I try to keep real and sincere people with me.”
Her outlook on business life: It was not a conscious choice to always act in art films. “I made a very special start to the cinema with the director Ümit Ünal. Then I continued in the same line. Because people around me knew me. Otherwise, I would happily act in popular movies with good scripts. Frankly, I don’t tempt a lot of what’s offered to me. Because I don’t see a deeply worked female character.”
Career plan: While choosing the projects she will take part in, she proceeds more with her impulses. “But you also have to be smart. We actors are actually a company and we have to be the managers of our own company. We have to make choices emotionally, economically or socially. ”
Future Dream: She wants to see suitable characters in the cinema and to make more feature films.
Concerns: She dreams of a world in which women and men will work under equal conditions, receive equal pay, and be valued equally, regardless of their occupation.
What she cannot tolerate: The use of one’s power to oppress and marginalize other people, triggers the sense of objection.
