What is the thing that Yüsra Geyik does not want to remember? Yüsra Geyik, who gave life to the character of ‘Zeliha’ for 15 years in Kanal D’s Arka Sokaklar series, said goodbye to the series last season. In the new season, the actress appears before the audience in another ambitious production, Camdaki Kız, which is also broadcast on Kanal D.
The actress, who added color to the story in a short time with the character of “Melisa” she played in the series, made a confession about the difficulties she experienced in the industry as a woman, in an interview with Hakan Gence from Hürriyet Newspaper.
Yüsra Geyik, Hakan Gence’s, ‘Did you experience the difficulties of being an actress? Have you ever been exposed to psychological or physical violence?’ To the question, “Unfortunately. I was subjected to psychological violence that I do not want to remember. The scariest part of violence is that those who show violence see themselves as strong. Using your victimhood to feed her ego. Could there be anything more pathetic? Unfortunately, this business has neither sector nor gender”.
Yüsra Geyik expressed her happiness at being included in the cast of Camdaki Kız with the following words; “Being on a new team was something I was really looking forward to. It’s fun but very exciting. Sometimes that excitement fills me so much that I forget to enjoy it.
I am really happy. I also feel very lucky. I work with very good people, good actors, a good team, a very good job. In this project, I play a character whose hand I hold tightly since the moment I read it. I always thank everyone, for everything that needs to be said.”
The actress’ goal for the future is; to do her job for many years, duly, in a way that feels comfortable to me. Yüsra Geyik explained her feelings on this issue with the following words. I want it to be said, “Only Yusra can play this”. I wish for a life where I can play all the emotions, all the experiences, from good to bad, that I cannot experience in a single life.
With digital channels, it has become easier for us to open up to the world. I want to be an actress who can take advantage of such opportunities. I will be an Oscar winner, I know.”
