Elkızı ranked sixth in the all-person category in its first episode, fourth in the EU and fifth in ABC1.

The series, which made a good introduction to the Saturday night competition, also caused a great reaction from the audience with its first episode. The audience, who reacted strongly to the violence scenes in Elkızı, expressed their anger on social media.

Zülal Kalkandelen, one of the writers of Cumhuriyet newspaper, was one of those who reacted to the violence in the series. In her post on her Twitter account, Kalkandelen said, “Another awful TV series where violence against women and animals is done! Isn’t it enough, the patriarchal reactionary culture you instilled in society? I also condemn the scriptwriters, production team and actors of this series.” she wrote.

Another viewer expressed his reaction as follows: “While violence against women and animals is rampant in the country, this is fueling the fire you know… I do not accept these scenes.”

The reaction of a TV viewer was also quite harsh. “The Elkızı story was very impressive, it would touch hearts, it would be told how the woman did not accept being crushed in the face of obstacles and stood upright (she takes the rifle in her hand and shoots)… Just give it a rest! Violence against women, pudicity, revenge, intrigue… There is even animal killing…”
