The US digital broadcasting platform Disney Plus will start broadcasting in Turkey on June 14. Following a very aggressive strategy in Turkey, the platform made deals with the actors with the highest ratings in our country. However, these agreements put other channels in a very difficult situation.
There are 2.5 months left until the start of the broadcast of Disney Plus, which has not fallen off the agenda with the contracts it has made with Turkey’s most famous actors one after the other. The first Turkish series of the platform will be Kaçış (Escape), starring Engin Akyürek and İrem Helvacıoğlu.
Disney Plus has made agreements with the highest-rated actors in Turkey to date. However, these agreements will put other channels in a difficult position. Because the agreements are “exclusive” agreements. This means that as a result of these agreements, these players will not be able to take part in the production of any other channel and platform.
The worst part is that these contracts can start from one year and last up to five years, depending on the actor. So, this means that an actor who signed a five-year contract with Disney Plus will not be able to take part in any series that will be shot for another channel or platform. This situation will leave other channels and platforms in a very difficult situation.
Disney Plus, which positions Turkey as a production base in addition to the agreements it has made with famous names, will begin its broadcast in Turkey on June 14. Disney Plus, the digital broadcasting platform of The Walt Disney Company, has determined the membership fee in Turkey as 34.99 TL per month or 349.90 TL per year.
In Disney Plus, users will have the opportunity to have high image quality, up to four simultaneous broadcasts, unlimited downloads on up to ten devices, watch selected content with IMAX technology, and create up to seven different profiles. Disney+ also offers a child-friendly interface that allows accessing only age-appropriate content with Child Profiles that parents can easily create.
