Family: She was born in Ankara, she has a brother. “My parents had to leave me to my grandmother to work, I didn’t see them for a long time. I grew up with my grandmother, grandfather and aunt. It was my aunt who guided me to acting when I was little. We were like sisters, she would say, ‘You will come to a very good place’. Later, my parents came and took me back. The turning point of her life: Her life changed when she participated in the competition show “Geleceğin Starı”. “Hamdi Alkan and Fırat Parlak came to Ankara. I entered the qualifiers and they invited me to Istanbul. After passing the second qualifying, I was entitled to enter the competition and thus my acting career started. Before that, I took acting training for in front of the camera. I always had acting on my mind and I believed that one day this career would begin. However, the competition made a great contribution. After the competition, I had interviews with many production companies. At that time, I continued my education and soon my television adventure began.”
The first step into acting: She started her television adventure in 2006 with the character of “Gökçe” in the TV series “Kuzey Yıldızı İlk Aşk”. She was recognized by the masses with her first project.
Personality traits: She describes herself as a fun, strong and unyielding personality. “I don’t know exactly what kind of impression Nilsu creates from the outside, but the Nilsu I know is an introvert, doesn’t show her emotions too much, tries to stay sensitive but strong, actually thinks about the person in front of her more than her own feelings and thoughts, weighs the words before speaking and speaks accordingly. Everyone’s understanding of love is different. Some are psychopathically jealous and restrictive. He puts that person in a golden cage, because he says ‘I am in love’ and hides behind love. Some people leave it alone, even with someone else, but still say, ‘May he be happy. His happiness is more important than my happiness because I am in love with him. Love differs from person to person. The real thing is love. You can fall in love with someone at first sight, even a shoe or a dress you see in the window. Well, is it love? You cannot love everyone. Love is not a feeling I believe in much, I believe in love more. I read somewhere that if you fall in love with a flower, you pluck it and take it home, but if you love a flower, you water it every day.
The source of happiness: The belief and trust of her loved ones is the greatest source of happiness. The greatest source of inspiration in life is herself. “I take my inspiration from myself. Actually, my muse is myself. My source of motivation is that my relatives believe in me and say that I can do better. Their trust in me motivates me.”

Her outlook on life: She actualizes what she puts her mind to. Acting was not a dream, it was a goal. “I put it in my head once. And I did my best for it and still do. As long as I can remember myself, I always wanted to be in the arts, being an actress outweighed them the most. If I didn’t have an acting career, I could try to be a painter.”
Perspective on business life: She is in love with her profession and does her best to stay in the sector. “Acting is my childhood dream, my passion and my favorite life space where I feel free. As in any business, it takes a lot of effort. It is necessary to learn to wait, plan, digest. It is a sector where great energies collide but in the end the good ones stay. Entering this industry is sometimes luck, sometimes very easy and sometimes very difficult. However, what is important to me is to know and apply how to be permanent, respected and leave a good mark in the sector. Nowadays, people are able to do everything from their smart devices. Therefore, our industry also has to go digital and this makes me very happy. Both digital projects are increasing day by day and people can use their creativity more due to digital freedom. I think it can replace television in the future. I love any field where I can act. Traditional publishing in Turkey is much more rooted. It is more memorable and reaches large audiences. Because digital platforms are new, energetic and dynamic, they host more exciting projects.”
Career plan: She thinks she is at the beginning of everything. She has a lot of things she wants to do for the future. “‘Kuzey Yıldızı İlk Aşk’ was my first project. I shot a series on digital. We are evaluating new projects with my manager Ufuk Ergin. The role I will play should excite me and have a solid place on my career ladder. We evaluate everything in this context. Of course, first of all, I would like to have a good, successful and successful career, and I would like to do musicals and theatre, for example. I live in this period and I know the life in this period, but I would like to portray a strong woman of old times, for example 1940s, 60s, even 90s. Although I don’t know exactly what people went through at that time, what kind of friendship stories they had, how they had love, I do know from what I’ve read and watched. Living the love of those times; I would like to experience their family and friendship life by playing.”
Dreaming of the Future: She wants to make a drama about basic human phenomena. “It’s more catchy to appeal to the audience’s emotions and I like drama more. If you ask, ‘Is it more difficult to make you laugh or cry’, of course, both have their own difficulties. But I think it is a little more difficult to make people cry, to make people emotional, to reflect the pain of the character to the audience. I have so many dreams. I am a dreamer person. My primary school teachers used to say, ‘You are a dreamer, take a break from daydreaming and listen to the lesson’. I dream a lot, I choose among them and try to make that dream come true. Out of thousands of dreams, I have something that I want to realize. One, for example, is to do very good deeds. I want to write, direct and act in a movie. Because playing, writing and directing are separate passions. I read a lot, watch a lot, research a lot in order to move myself forward. I’m always behind the monitor. I am watching and observing.”
Who she admires: She would very much like to take part in a project with Halit Ergenç. “I watched the movie ‘Leon’ when I was little and I really liked Natalie Portman there. She can be my role model or my inspiration. As I always say, I would like to act with Halit Ergenç. I hope I get the opportunity to work with him one day. For me, every actor, every set, is a lesson; it is an experience. Experiencing these and taking them as lessons for myself is a treasure for me.”
Attractiveness criteria for men: Doesn’t care much about appearance. “Beauty is a relative concept. Some like brunette, some blonde, some red. I think beauty is temperament. Even if you don’t find the other person beautiful, when you start chatting a little, see his self-confidence and realize how smart he is, you will find him beautiful or handsome.
What does she do at home? She loves to eat and cook. “Eating is very important to me. I can almost say it’s a passion. I cook in my spare time. I love to eat, but I have to be careful. I try to eat less, which makes me very sad. I adore dessert. There were foods that I didn’t like when I was little, but now I love and eat them all. I’m lazy and without make up, I feel like my skin is breathing, but after all, I’m working and I have to do it. That’s why removing my makeup, moisturizing my skin well, making moisture masks is good for me and my psychology.
