Sevda Erginci, whose TV series “Elkızı” on Fox TV ended, chose the theater stage rather than taking a role in a new series.
Elkızı series, in which Sevda Erginci shared the lead role with İsmail Ege Şaşmaz, experienced the misfortune of the ratings that did not increase despite her effective story and good acting performances, and only 13 episodes remained on the screen.
After this misfortune, the talented actress started preparations for the theater play Anne. A play written by the Oscar-winning French writer Florian Zeller, Anne is part of the trilogy with Father and Son, the 2018 production that also won an Oscar for Anthony Hopkins.
Sevda Erginci, Defne Kayalar, Engin Hepileri and Doğa Halis are taking part in the play, which will be premiered on March 17 at the Moda Stage.
The play presents the disappearance of a mother in the masculine family structure to the audience with a striking language of comedy and hysteria. She wants the audience to witness how a woman’s life slips away, with the curiosity aroused by the repetitive scenes.
Instead of presenting the male-dominated family structure in the usual way, the Parisian writer wrote with a psychological tension that could add vital perspectives to the audience in metropolitan life.
Defne Kayalar plays ‘Mother’, Engin Hepileri plays ‘Father’, Sevda Erginci plays ‘Daughter’ and Doğa Halis plays ‘Son’ in the play, produced by Theater iN and all rehearsals are held under the roof of Studio iN and Moda Sahnesi.
