The Grand Family is an action and drama Turkish television series produced by Raci Şaşmaz, whose first episode was broadcast on 8 September 2015.
Onur Tan, Zübeyr Şaşmaz and Baran Özçaylan are sitting in the director’s chair of the series, while Bahadır Özdener and Berna Aruz are writing the screenplay together. Oktay Kaynarca took the lead role and the character of Hızır Çakırbeyli became a phenomenon. Many famous names took part in the series from time to time. STORY:
Hızır Çakırbeyli is a man of love. He never avoids loving. He also likes to be loved. He wants to be the focus of all women in his life; his mother, wife, daughter and lover.
He blesses his brother, son, nephew and other family members, and is a devoted “father” for them. He is a devoted friend. He is an indispensable brother. He is a just and generous chieftain.
These features glorify Hızır in the underworld instead of his end. When he has become a reliable and always doable man, he is caught on the radar of the state. PLACES:
Very different locations are used in the shooting of The Grand Family, the breathtaking series of the screens. The only shooting place of the series that has not changed for 6 seasons is the large table where the council meets and the magnificent mansion that comes to the screens. Another interesting place in the series is Hızır Çakırbeyli’s flamboyant house with a pool in the greenery. The house of Hızır Çakırbeyli, where the most important scenes of the TV series The Grand Family, were filmed in Zekeriyaköy district of Sarıyer, Istanbul. This magnificent house, where the Çakırbeyli family lives together, is located in natural beauties, and is reflected on the screens in many important meetings of Hızır Çakırbeyli.
One of the most striking places in the series is the mansion where the council table is set up. Table scenes, in which all serious decisions are made and enthusiastically lock the audience on the screen, are shot at the Hababam Class Museum Adile Sultan Pavilion in Üsküdar, Istanbul. Adile Sultan Pavilion is located in the Üsküdar district of Istanbul, today within the Validebağ grove. It was built by Sultan Abdulaziz for his younger sister Adile Sultan in 1853. The entrance of the rectangular planned building is accessed through the magnificent double-armed stairs. Hababam Class, one of Kemal Sunal’s films, was also shot at this venue.
Apart from that, Çamlıca and its surroundings are the leading places where the series are shot intensively.
GENERIC:
The soundtrack of the series belongs to Ayşe Önder and Levent Güneş. The song in the generic music consists of the music of the song named The Grand Family. The Grand Family is the poem Sabahattin Ali wrote for Sandıkçı Şükrü in Sinop. It was written during the author’s stay in Sinop Prison. It was later composed and voiced by Zülfü Livaneli and Edip Akbayram. The song also gave its name to Livaneli’s album, which was released in 1975.
