Family: Originally of Bosnian descent. She was born and raised in Ankara. She is married to Volkan Yosunlu, who is an actor like herself. She is very fond of his family. “After losing my father at a very early age, my mother, sister, brother and I hugged each other even tighter. As many of us do not live very easy lives, our bond with each other has always kept us strong. I love them so much.”
Childhood years: As a child, she wanted to be a doctor. “I had such a dream, but then, very coincidentally, I started playing children’s games through a friend of mine. There I said, ‘This profession is very good, just for me, does it have a school’ and I researched it. When I said that he had a school and that he was at my age, I entered Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory and graduated. Actually, I had also won Hacettepe University, but it was more logical to come to Istanbul. Both are very good schools in my opinion, but I chose this place because job opportunities are much more in Istanbul. I have no regrets at all. My family did not find my possibility of actually becoming a doctor very realistic. I wasn’t a very hardworking student, I might not have won. They thought that I was in a sea of dreams when it came to acting. They said, ‘However you will be happy, this is your life tomorrow, when you regret it, don’t say you did it, but we are behind you in all your decisions’.
Education life: Graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State Conservatory Theater Department.
Turning point in her career: She graduated from university in 2010, acted small roles in some TV series. She sees the TV series “Muhteşem Yüzyıl” as the turning point of her career. “My first job as a professional was ‘Muhteşem Yüzyıl’. My journey started with the character of “Gülnihal”, a close friend of Hürrem. Afterwards, he continued with the projects ‘Eve Düşen Yıldırım’, ‘Sen Benimsin’, and ‘Babam ve Ailesi’. Outside of television, I do dubbing and continue theater. The place, the memory and the contributions of all of them are very precious. Glad I had the chance to experience them all. But I always thank the character of ‘Gülnihal’. I guess it’s like a first tear. With her, I had the opportunity to show myself in this sector, to introduce myself.”
The first step into acting: She started her television adventure in 2003 with the TV series “Kurşun Yarası”.
Which project did it shine with? She attracted attention with the character of “Gülnihal Hatun”, which she portrayed in the TV series “Muhteşem Yüzyıl”.
Personality traits: Generally, she has a structure that moves with her emotions. “We all have moments in our lives when we have no choice but to act rationally. Sometimes it is impossible not to listen to the voice of our heart. Although I want to act with my logic, I guess I am one of those who choose emotion more.”
Social: On non-set days, she usually prefers to rest. “I do yoga from the bottom up and I try to follow all the matches as I am a former licensed volleyball player. My books and foreign series are among my indispensables. I spend all my remaining time with my family, nephews and friends.”
Source of happiness: She is very happy that ‘Muhteşem Yüzyıl’ is her first professional job. “Muhteşem Yüzyıl’ and it was a very good start. I think I am very lucky. For once it was very surprising to me. While you are just getting through your student life, you suddenly feel a lot of responsibility when you say, “I graduated, what will I do now”. The fact that the series is talked about and watched a lot, of course, makes one proud. My family was also surprised at first. While I did not even think that I could start such a good business, they did not even dream of it. Now they are very happy and joyful, they say, ‘I’m glad you did it’.”

Her view of business life: She meticulously enters into a working routine for each character handed over to her. “There are some characters, you get to them faster. That character becomes more familiar, familiar or closer to you and emerges spontaneously. But there are some that require more preparation, research, exercise, in short, more work, effort and time. With the education I have received, I will do my best with the right method of working for every character handed to me.”
Career plan: She has been in the Uyghur Art Theater team since 2016. She loves screens and being on the theater stage. “Of course, I would very much like to be present in a project abroad. For example, a European or Iranian cinema would be very nice. But when I look at it realistically, I know that for this to happen, you need to master the language of that country like your mother tongue. Otherwise, I’m not sure if a really good acting can be made.”
Who does she admire? “I’m a fan of Marion Cotillard. She is the first name that comes to mind for me with her acting and stance. As a director, I like Iranian Asghar Farhadi. Both are magnificent. I wish Asghar made a movie and I acted sister and brother with Marion. Even her dream brings roses to my face.”
How is she with social media? She actively uses social media. “There are those who love social media and those who don’t. As someone who does this profession, I have to use it, and also actively. People who love us, are curious about us, and want to learn about what we do outside of the screen, reach us through social media. But I think there should be a limit to this. That’s why I’m sharing as much as needed. Also, people want to see us positively in every video we share. This pushes people to make more insincere posts over time. However, life is not like that. I try to share what is real as much as possible.”
